Job Description

Creative Hub Ethiopia is a dynamic and innovative platform that fosters creativity, innovation, and collaboration across Ethiopia’s creative industries. The Creative Hub Ethiopia has been designed to foster innovation and economic development by promoting creativity, digitalization, and knowledge sharing. Launched in May 2020, The facilities – located within EED premises in the heart of Addis Ababa – have been equipped with advanced machineries and include co-working areas, lab, and a coffee shop. The Hub will enable a wide range of services to designers and innovative entrepreneurs such as seminars and workshops, training, prototyping techniques, social events, and networking sessions. Creative Hub Ethiopia’s second space is set to be opened in Jimma, Oromia in March 2025.

Our mission is to empower creatives and innovators by providing resources, mentorship, and opportunities to drive sustainable growth and development in the creative sector. UNIDO and EED initiated the Creative Hub Ethiopia with funding from the Italian Development Cooperation. Iceaddis is an implementing partner.

We seek a visionary and experienced leader to join our team as the Director of Creative Hub Ethiopia. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of Ethiopia’s creative industries. As the Creative Hub Ethiopia Director, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight to ensure the Hub achieves its mission and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive innovation and creativity across all Hub initiatives, ensuring they are impactful and sustainable. 

  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Hub projects and activities in Addis Ababa and Jimma, ensuring they meet objectives and deliver measurable impact.

  • Lead and manage multi-disciplinary teams, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment. 

  • Support and provide professional development opportunities for staff and stakeholders. 

  • Build strong relationships with private sector partners, international organizations, government bodies, and creative industry stakeholders.

  • Represent Creative Hub Ethiopia at national and international forums and conferences and advocate for the growth and development of Ethiopia’s creative industries.

  • Monitor and report on project progress, budgets, and outcomes to stakeholders and funders. 

  • Identify and secure funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and partnerships, to support Hub activities. 

  • Collaborate with policymakers to influence public policy and create an enabling environment for the creative industries. Advocate for the integration of creative industries into national development plans. 

  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for Creative Hub Ethiopia, effectively communicating its mission, vision, and achievements to diverse audiences.

  • Negotiate partnerships and agreements that advance the Hub’s goals. 

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, entrepreneurship, Public Policy, Innovation Management, or related field of study with relevant work experience.

  • Experience: 7 years of work experience out of which 4 years in a managerial role.  

  • Proven track record in managing multi-disciplinary teams and projects. 

  • Deep understanding of creative industries, public-private partnerships, and innovation strategies. 

  • Strong expertise in stakeholder engagement, partnership building, and resource mobilization. 

  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. 

  • Fluency in English and Amharic (both written and spoken); additional languages are an asset
