Job Description
Farm Consultants provide complex specialist advice to farmers and livestock breeders to ensure that their business and production is optimised.
Job Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Science, Agronomy, Animal Science, or a related field.
A Master’s degree or higher is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 15 years of experience in farm management, agricultural consulting, or a related field.
Proven expertise in crop and livestock management, farm equipment, and sustainable farming practices.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of farm machinery, soil management, pest control, irrigation systems, and modern farming technologies.
Specialized knowledge in cultivating crops such as maize, sorghum, bananas, and others.
Soft Skills:
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a practical approach to finding solutions.
Strong communication skills to clearly explain complex concepts to farmers and stakeholders.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
Certifications (Optional but Preferred):
Certification in farm management or related areas.
Sustainable agriculture or organic farming certification.
Other Skills:
In-depth understanding of the local agricultural market and industry trends.
Ability to conduct training and workshops for farmers and farm staff.
