Ethio-Friends Foundation for Refugees (EFFR) is looking for a highly qualified Accountant for the project “Empowering Families Through E-commerce to Support Children's Education and Well-being" based in Addis Ababa.
About the Project
EFFR is currently implementing a strategic two-year project supported by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation titled: "Empowering Families Through E-commerce to Support Children's Education and Well-being." This initiative aims to economically empower families through e-commerce platforms, enhance early childhood development, and strengthen the advocacy and influencing capacity of Refugee-Led Organizations (RLOs).
Organizational overview
Ethio-Friends Foundation for Refugees (EFFR) was established in 2022 and registered on January 13, 2023, as the first legally registered Refugee-Led Organization (RLO) in Ethiopia. It serves as a humanitarian and rights-based response to support the more than 1.1 million refugees and asylum seekers currently in Ethiopia.
These populations face severe challenges due to protracted crises and the global decline in funding. Our foundation is committed to promoting human rights and advocacy, providing sustainable livelihoods, offering Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), and achieving gender equality while addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV). We serve as a steadfast voice for the voiceless among both refugees and host communities.
Our Partners: We take great pride in working alongside major national and international stakeholders, including the Refugees and Returnees Service (RRS), UNHCR, Inkomoko, DRC, JRS, Oxfam GB, and the Hilton Foundation, in addition to various UN agencies and non-governmental organizations.
Overall purpose of the role
The role is responsible for financial documentation, proper recording, donor compliance and other related financial activities
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Finance
Verify correctness of cost/expense documents and ensure that payment requests are supported by source documents and required authorizations are in place. S/he shall also be responsible to effect all payment requests on time.
Prepare cash payment vouchers and ensure that all cash transactions are fully and properly documented and filed according to Ethio-Friends procedures
Responsible for accurate and timely posting of all financial transactions and ensures the application of proper accounting controls and uniformity with financial regulations, rules, policies and procedures, donor terms and conditions and Government policies.
Collect bank advice, bank statements, and other bank correspondences
Comply with all Tax inspection requirements.
Ensure preparation of documentation for the audit.
Ensures all expenditures comply with requirements of the Ethio-Friends Guidelines and all local legal requirements and obligations (such as tax, social security, etc.).
Assists and support program personnel in relation to handling financial aspects of program activities.
2. Procurement
As required, provide procurement support to the Field Office.
Ensures proper and up-to-date forms and procedures are used and followed.
Has a full understanding of Ethio-Friends procurement policies and formats.
Assist the Procurement process and opening of bids and quotations.
Maintain proper procurement files (photocopy of all transaction documents).
Supports procurement process in collecting Quotations, and proforma invoices from suppliers whenever delegated.
3. Administration and programme
Maintain an appropriate filing system for the project to accommodate all aspects of the Ethio-Friends work,
Support the field office coordinator in organizing training sessions and meetings.
Ensure the proper use and maintenance of equipment and office supplies, bringing any problems to the attention of the project manager.
Support field office Finance and Admin assistances with on-site monitoring visits and inform findings timely.
Assisting in HR and administrative issues collaborating with Field office and liaison with CO HR & Admin officer.
The employee may be asked to perform duties and tasks not covered in this job description as well as to provide support in other areas when necessary

Language Requirement: Strong Amharic and English skills is mandatory
Duty Station: Addis Ababa
Salary: Gross salary of 31,000 ETB per month subject to government taxation
Employment Type: Part time/50%/
