Ethio-Friends Foundation for Refugees (EFFR) is looking for a highly qualified Digital Marketing and Website Management Officer for the project “Empowering Families Through E-commerce to Support Children's Education and Well-being" based in Addis Ababa.

EFFR is currently implementing a strategic two-year project supported by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation titled: "Empowering Families Through E-commerce to Support Children's Education and Well-being." This initiative aims to economically empower families through e-commerce platforms, enhance early childhood development, and strengthen the advocacy and influencing capacity of Refugee-Led Organizations (RLOs).

Ethio-Friends Foundation for Refugees (EFFR) was established in 2022 and registered on January 13, 2023, as the first legally registered Refugee-Led Organization (RLO) in Ethiopia. It serves as a humanitarian and rights-based response to support the more than 1.1 million refugees and asylum seekers currently in Ethiopia.

These populations face severe challenges due to protracted crises and the global decline in funding. Our foundation is committed to promoting human rights and advocacy, providing sustainable livelihoods, offering Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), and achieving gender equality while addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV). We serve as a steadfast voice for the voiceless among both refugees and host communities.

Our Partners: We take great pride in working alongside major national and international stakeholders, including the Refugees and Returnees Service (RRS), UNHCR, Inkomoko, DRC, JRS, Oxfam GB, and the Hilton Foundation, in addition to various UN agencies and non-governmental organizations.

Overall purpose of the role

The Digital Marketing and Website Management Officer is responsible for enhancing the organization’s online presence, driving digital engagement, and ensuring the smooth operation of its web platform. This role combines strategic marketing execution with technical oversight and data-driven analysis. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Digital Marketing, Campaign Development and Execution: Design and implement targeted digital marketing campaigns across platforms such as Google Ads, social media, and email to increase visibility and engagement.

  • Social Media Management: Oversee the organization’s social media accounts, creating and curating compelling content tailored to the interests and needs of the target audience.

  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Optimize website content and structure to improve searching and increase traffic.

  • Performance Monitoring: analyze the effectiveness of digital campaigns and prepare periodic reports with insights and recommendations for improvement.

  • Capacity Building: provide training refugee participants on the platform on how to showcase their products effectively and improve image quality to enhance marketability (as the project aims to empower them).

  • Website Management and Content and Service Updates: maintain and regularly update website content, including products, services, and organizational information to ensure accuracy and relevance.

  • Technical Coordination: Collaborate with web developers to ensure the website functions smoothly and meets performance standards.

  • User Experience Enhancement: Monitor user interactions and propose improvements to enhance navigation, accessibility, and overall user satisfaction.

  • E-Commerce and Customer Interaction: Manage online payment systems, order processing, and customer communications through the platform to ensure a seamless experience.

  • Analysis and Reporting: Utilize tools such as Google Analytics to monitor user behavior, traffic sources, and conversion rates.

  • Performance Reporting: Generate regular reports on website traffic, sales performance, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to inform strategic decisions and optimize digital efforts.

Duty Station: Addis Ababa

Salary and Incentives: Gross Salary 77,500 ETB subject to government taxation    

Language Requirement: Strong Amharic and English skills is mandatory and knowing other local languages is an asset

Job Requirements

Academic Requirements and Relevant Experience

  • A Bachelor Degree in Media and communication, computer science and software engineering, , information management and other related fields with at least three (3) years relevant work experience in media and communication preferably in the NGO sector

  • Relevant exposure to the work of the Refugee Led Organization and Refugee responses will be an advantage.

  • Very good planning and organizational skills

  • Excellent communication, planning and advocacy skills; 

  • Readiness to share information and knowledge at all times, drive for results and continuous improvement;

  • Adaptive, Patient, resilient and flexible 

  • Excellent ability to work using MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, etc. 

  • Knowledge and experience in additional computer office applications and working tools will be an advantage.
