Job Description

Job Purpose: The CGPP Project Coordinator, in coordination with the health and nutrition specialist , provides overall technical leadership, guidance, and quality assurance for, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of CGPP health initiatives, with a particular focus on communicable disease control, including polio eradication, routine immunization, and outbreak response activities. The role ensures that all CGPP activities align with World Vision Ethiopia’s national strategy, government health priorities, and donor requirements. The coordinator supports the design of evidence-based interventions aimed at improving immunization coverage, disease surveillance, and community health outcomes. This includes providing technical input into project planning, ensuring implementation incorporates best practices and innovative approaches, and strengthening the capacity of field staff and partners to deliver high-quality, sustainable results. In addition, the CGPP Project Coordinator plays a central role in coordinating and harmonizing project activities across different project focused woredas of Asossa zone to promote integration and synergy. The position oversees the quality of project implementation, ensuring timely delivery of results, proper documentation, and compliance with donor and organizational standards. The coordinator also supports monitoring and evaluation efforts, data analysis, and knowledge management to inform learning and continuous improvement. By engaging with key stakeholders including government health offices, UN agencies, NGOs, and community partners the coordinator advocates for effective strategies and practices to prevent and control communicable diseases, contributing to World Vision Ethiopia’s overall mission of improving child health and well-being.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Implementation & Coordination

  • Plan, implement, and oversee CGPP activities, including routine immunization campaigns, polio SIAs, disease surveillance, and outbreak preparedness at the woreda and community level.

  • Coordinate with field staff, government health offices, and community volunteers to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of program interventions.

  • Supervise and support field teams to meet project targets and adhere to protocols.

  • Ensure project activities align with national health priorities, GPEI strategies, and donor requirements.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor immunization and surveillance activities, provide on-site technical guidance, and address operational challenges.

  • Collect, analyze, and validate data from communities and health facilities for timely reporting.

  • Ensure accurate, timely submission of reports to CGPP, government partners, and donors.

Capacity Building & Technical Support

  • Strengthen the technical capacity of health workers, volunteers, and community mobilizers through mentorship, training, and supportive supervision.

  • Ensure adherence to global and national immunization, surveillance, and community engagement standards.

  • Share best practices and lessons learned with teams and stakeholders to improve program quality.

Community Engagement & Social Mobilization

  • Promote community awareness and participation in immunization campaigns, disease surveillance, and preventive health measures.

  • Strengthen partnerships with community leaders, volunteers, and local structures to enhance program ownership and sustainability.

  • Support strategies to address vaccine hesitancy and reach underserved populations..

Coordination & Partnership

  • Foster strong collaboration with government health offices at woreda, zonal, and regional levels for project implementation and sustainability.

  • Actively participate in Health and Nutrition Cluster meetings and inter-agency coordination forums.

  • Work closely with donors, UN agencies, NGOs, and community partners to ensure harmonized emergency responses

Job Requirements

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification

  • BSc/MPH Degree in Public Health, Nurse , midwife , Epidemiology, Global Health, Community Health, RH, health service management Health Systems, or Health related Studies

Preferred Specialized Training:

  • Immunization, Polio Eradication, or Disease Surveillance training.

  • Community Engagement and Social Mobilization for Immunization campaigns.

  • Health Program Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) or Project Cycle Management training.

  • Leadership, Management, and Coaching Skills training for effective supervision of field teams and partners.

  • Optional: Training in outbreak preparedness, surveillance, and routine immunization strategies (WHO/EPI/GPEI guidelines

Required Professional Experience

  • Minimum of six (6) years of progressive experience in public health program management, with at least three (3) years in a managerial or technical leadership role within an international NGO or UN agency. 

  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing immunization, polio eradication, or communicable disease surveillance programs at community and regional levels.

  • Experience in coordinating with government health offices, partners, and community structures to ensure program effectiveness.

  • Demonstrated ability to strengthen field team capacity and ensure adherence to national health strategies, policies, and technical standards

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in managing health and nutrition projects, including emergency and development contexts.

  • Strong skills in monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) for evidence-based program improvement.

  • Ability to lead, coach, and motivate multidisciplinary teams and partner organizations.

  • Proficient in data analysis, reporting, and presenting findings to donors, government, and stakeholders.

  • Excellent communication, technical writing, and advocacy skills for diverse audiences.

  • Experience in building capacity, fostering partnerships, and promoting best practices and lessons learned.

Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement

  • Frequent travel to the project sites in country or abroad

  • Fluency in English and Knowledge of local language is advantageous
