IHI is looking for a Neonatal Health Advisor for its   Gates Foundation funded- Improving Neonatal Survival project. 

Duty Station: Addis Ababa, with travel to project sites

Employment type: This is a permanent, full-time position. Please note that we are exclusively seeking candidates for a full-time commitment; part-time schedules or reduced hours are not available for this role and are not open to negotiation.

Under the supervision of IHI Ethiopia Country Director (CD), the Neonatal Health Advisor will serve as a key clinical and technical expert for “Improving Neonatal Survival" project.  You will provide expert consultation for complex neonatal cases while leading the development of evidence-based protocols for newborn care units. This leadership extends to Training and Capacity Building, where you will design and deliver specialized training packages, conduct clinical mentorship, and update curricula to align with current best practices. Furthermore, you will manage Program Management and Reporting by collaborating with M&E teams to track health indicators, producing detailed technical reports for stakeholders and the Ministry of Health, and ensuring project sustainability through close collaboration with local health authorities

Job Requirements

Position Qualification Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Willingness to commit to IHI’s mission and values.

  • Medical Degree (MD), Residency in Pediatrics, Sub-specialty training or equivalent clinical experience in Neonatology is highly desirable. A pediatrician with demonstrated significant experience and a primary focus on newborn care and management in high-acuity settings will be considered

  • Master’s degree in public health is preferred.

  • Ten or more years of experience with at least five years in leadership role within the Ethiopian health care system.

  • Experience applying quality improvement methods in a health care setting.

  • Experience in clinical training, supervision, and capacity building of local health professionals.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office applications.
