Job Description

We are looking for a passionate, energetic and motivated Trainee Welder for our company engaged in engineering and machinery manufacturing business. The potential candidate will be responsible for  learning welding techniques, providing support in welding operations, and developing practical skills required for future welding roles within the company.

1. Position Title: Trainee Welder

2. Department: Production / Welding

3. Reports To: Welding Supervisor / Senior Welders

4. Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (Pardus Engineering Workshop/Factory)

5. Job Purpose:

To learn welding techniques, support welding operations, and develop practical skills required for future welding roles within the company.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

A. Training & Skills Development

  • Receive on-the-job training in MIG, TIG, and ARC welding.

  • Practice basic welding, cutting, grinding, and fitting tasks.

  • Support senior welders during fabrication activities.

B. Workshop Support

  • Prepare materials, tools, and equipment for daily work.

  • Clean and maintain welding machines and tools.

  • Assist in metal cutting, grinding, and polishing tasks.

C. Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all welding safety rules and PPE guidelines.

  • Handle tools and hot materials safely.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workspace.

D. Production Assistance

  • Support fabrication, assembly, and workshop tasks.

  • Help with material movement and labeling.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors.

Job Requirements

1.Required Qualifications & Experience

  • TVET Level I, short-term training, or strong interest in welding.

  • No prior experience required, training will be provided.

2. Required Skills & Competencies

  • Eagerness to learn and improve.

  • Basic understanding of workshop tools (advantage).

  • Discipline, good attitude, and teamwork spirit.

  • Strong safety awareness.

3. Personal Attributes

  • Motivated, committed, and hardworking.

  • Obedient, respectful, and willing to follow instructions.

  • Honest and reliable.

4. Working Conditions

  • Workshop environment with heat, fumes, sparks, and noise.

  • PPE required: gloves, helmet, apron, boots, and ear protection.
