Job Description

The Quality & M&E Officer is a collaborative role designed to support the Quality & Innovation Director in maintaining high standards of clinical care. You will be responsible for the end-to-end data pipeline—from collection via HMIS to submission through DHIS-2—while working alongside multidisciplinary teams to implement quality improvement projects across the facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Data Systems & Federal Reporting

  • DHIS-2 Management: Ensure all institutional data is accurately captured and uploaded to the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) portal on time.

  • HMIS Coordination: Daily monitoring of the Hospital Management Information System to ensure data consistency across departments.

  • Excel Analysis: Utilize Microsoft Excel to organize raw health data, create pivot tables, and generate monthly performance charts.

2. Quality Improvement (QI) & Teamwork

  • Inter-Departmental Collaboration: Work as an active team member with doctors, nurses, and lab technicians to identify bottlenecks in patient care.

  • QI Initiatives: Assist in developing and tracking Quality Improvement projects, using data to prove the effectiveness of new clinical protocols.

  • Innovation Support: Support the Director in brainstorming and testing innovative solutions to hospital operational challenges.

3. Reporting & Presentation

  • Visual Reporting: Create clear, professional slide decks to present data findings during monthly quality committee meetings.

  • Feedback Loops: Act as a bridge between the Quality office and frontline staff, communicating data trends in a way that encourages team-based problem-solving.

Job Requirements

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of professional experience in a healthcare environment (M&E, Data Management, or Quality Assurance).

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Public Health, Statistics, or a related field.

  • Technical Skills: * Practical experience or formal training in DHIS-2 and HMIS.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data entry, basic formulas, and formatting).

    • Strong presentation skills (PowerPoint) to share data with diverse audiences.

  • Core Soft Skills:

    • Team Player: Proven ability to work effectively within a multi-functional team.

    • Communication: Ability to explain technical data concepts to non-technical staff.

    • Adaptability: Willingness to learn and engage in various hospital departments.

  • Success Factors

  • The ideal candidate is someone who is technically sound with data but also possesses the "soft skills" to motivate a team toward a common goal. Success in this role is measured by:

  • Zero delays in FMOH reporting via DHIS-2.

  • High team engagement in quality improvement activities.

  • Clarity of data presentations.
