Job Description 

• Assists and cooperates in the installation, servicing and repairing of motors, contractors, circuit breakers and other electrical equipment. Carries out preventive and corrective maintenance works when instructed by the Electrician. Diagnoses and locates circuitry, component and equipment faults. Attend, operates and records generator daily operation and fuel consumption, general utility consumptions put an effort to control the energy consumption by avoiding an unwanted wastage.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities: -

• Installs and connect motors, transformers, circuit breakers, contactors and other components as directed by the Electrician or Senior Electrician.

• Examines and maintains cables, cable joints and connections to electrical arts, switches, controls, fuse boxes and other equipment as directed by Senior Electricians.

• Disassembles, cleans, repairs and reassembles generator parts, motors, contactors, etc 

• Positions and fixes distribution boxes, switches and light and power points.

• Reads and interprets schematic and wiring diagrams and factory maintenance manuals.

• Performs preventive and corrective maintenance.

• Performs and fixes any electrical activities in his shift and put a maximum effort to avoid or minimize down time.

• Identify problems and communicate with senior electricians to fix and improve performance.

• Raises new innovation and improvement ideas which maximizes efficiency, quality and reduce time and energy/cost.     

• Diagnoses and locates circuit faults, component and equipments faults as directed by the Senior Electrician. 

• Installs new electrical equipment and machinery when instructed 

• Keeps electric shops, control rooms, switch rooms and any other working relevant to the Electrical Maintenance Services.

•  Ensure post maintenance and good manufacturing practice rules in all maintenance working area. 

• Ensures the generator operation is smooth and fuel is availed to the required amount.

• Controls the over all lighting in the factory and compound and avoids low illumination and unwanted lighting.

• Checks the available spare parts and communicates in advance for nil or low in stock parts. 

• Always avails him self in the production floor and accepts maintenance request for prompt reactions and good communications. 

• Arranges and categorizes electrical motors and cables for proper utilization.

• Trains operators for smooth operation, energy management and performance

• covers shifts or works for extended hours whenever there exists shortage of manpower

• Performs other duties as may be required by his immediate supervisor

Job Requirements

  • Diploma /degree Certificate in Electricity 

• Work Experience

  • 2years /1 years
