Responsible for the overall electrical work, including installation of new machines, repair and maintenance of electrical and electronics equipment. Identifies and plans spare and wear parts that are required for repairs. Carries out preventive and corrective maintenance. Coordinates, mobilize and supervises directs subordinates.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assembles, installs, tests and maintains electrical and electronic wiring, machinery, equipment and apparatus using hand and power tools.

• Diagnoses malfunctioning system, apparatus and components using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a break down and correct the problem.

• Studies machinery, equipment and other facilities that require electrical repair and maintenance.

• Guides subordinate and involves in carrying out various kinds of electrical installation and maintenance from simple to difficult and complex electrical maintenance and repair works.

•  Ensures that safety of every machinery and equipment's is secured in the control system is considered Install and maintains motors, breakers, contractors, transformers and other control equipment as required.

• Plans, request and follow up of spare part and tools required supplies and materials needed by electricians and request that they be ordered.

• Installs and maintains electrical control systems.

• Collaborates with electrical and other maintenance staff members to identify, define and solve developmental problems.

• Diagnoses faults with the aid of testing instruments.

• Builds, calibrates, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs electrical instruments and testing equipment's. 

• Directs and participates in dismantling of equipment and machinery when required and repairs broken or worn-out parts and faulty wirings.

• Positions and fixes distribution boards, fuse boxes, switches and light and power points.

• Inspects the condition of electrical wiring and equipment to ensure conformity with area codes and safety regulations and to maintain efficient operation.

• Performs condition based or/and scheduled preventive and corrective maintenance activities.

• identifies spare and wear parts that rate required for repairs. 

• Conducts steady state operation activities such as keeping operation records, conducting of continuous monitoring of works, briefing and handling over of started and ongoing works to the next shift.

• Prepares and submits timely reports on machinery and equipment maintenance activities 

•  Closely communicates, follows, assists and Evaluates work performance of all shift electricians and subordinates.

• Shall work independently with little direct supervision.

• Ensure post maintenance and good manufacturing practice rules in all maintenance working area. 

• Ensure that the overall factory lighting system and operation considers proper energy management and daily energy and other utility consumptions are recorded.

• Ensure that safety is secured, the wiring, termination, control system complies the safety requirement and good overall view and personnel use relevant PE all the time during installation, operation and maintenance. 

• Ensure that the generator maintenance schedule is followed, operation is to the standard (operators are skilled and trained), gen set is always ready and standby, and records are being maintained, battery level is being checked at least weekly

• Ensures daily activities are being recorded and is recording and strictly follows and responds to daily reports from subordinates timely.   

• Ensure that the overall wiring lay out and lighting of the factory is safe and to the standard illumination level.

• Covers any vacant shifts when requested or assigns manpower and closely follows all shift activities and communicates with immediate supervisor for major gaps.

• Performs for extended hours whenever there are unaccomplished activities or it is required.

• Reports and communicates with immediate supervisor timely and daily for major problems and activities.

• Builds a good team sprit with crew and the user departments for achieving common goal.

• Trains junior electricians and operators.

• Performs other duties as may be required by his immediate supervisor.

• Diploma /Degree in Electricity/electrical /automation engineering. 

Experience: -

• 4-8 years and above relevant experience.

• Knowledge of PLC and Computer application

• Skilled in AUTO CAD.
