Green Mark Herbs PLC (GMH), a prominent company engaged in farming and the export of various herbs to international markets.
REPORTS TO: D/Finance and Administration Manager

Green Mark Herbs PLC (GMH), a prominent company engaged in farming and the export of various herbs to international markets

The senior Accountant is responsible to verify payment vouchers, ensure completeness of financial

documents, reconcile bank accounts, maintains financial records and documents of the Company.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Verifies the correctness of each financial source document;

  • Checks that financial documents are consecutive and in order

  • Prepares schedules of various accounts; prepares monthly sales reports into EXCEL operated sheet for analysis;

  • Prepares periodic expenditure statements and other reports including payment obligations to Government agencies i.e employees income tax, withholding tax profit tax, VAT and pension contribution and follows up the timely payment;

  • Follows up foreign purchase operation for costing of imported materials and goods and accumulates cost of imported materials and good;

  • Prepares reports on purchase, customs, transit and other advances, and follows up the timely clearance of the advance;

  • Reviews, investigates and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents and reports;

  • Ensures cash position balances of bank accounts are updated on daily basis;

  • Ensures that payment requests and documents are approved by the authorized person and

  • prepares payment vouchers, codes and analyses documents;

  • Checks monthly payroll of staff according to policies and procedures of the Company and applicable laws of the country;

  • Reconciles monthly company books of accounts with bank and also sub ledger accounts ;

  • Prepares reconciliation reports and summaries of accounting activity;

  • Maintains filing of all financial documents and reports;

  • Issues the requested documents to Auditors upon authorization;

  • Verifies source documents for proper approval before they are file and recorded;

  • Ensures that all unused official documents and vouchers of the organization are properly

  • registered and are available in sufficient quantity;

  • Reports outstanding and unsettled payments and receipts;

  • Performs other duties assigned by the D/Finance and Administration Manager

Job Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • BA degree in accounting or Finance

  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience

  • Deep knowledge of Ethiopia tax laws

TECHNICAL AND OTHER SKILLS

  • Computer proficiency and knowledge of Peachtree Accounting;

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills;
