About the role:

Shirshir Business Group PLC are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions. The responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures. He/She should have combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. The ideal candidate has also experience in collaborating and/or managing a team of Accountants. Senior Accountant duties also include ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all of our accounting tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the company.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

  • Reconcile bank statements, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger accounts.

  • Provide detailed financial reports to management for decision-making purposes.

  • Prepare and file all tax returns, including VAT, withholding tax, payroll tax, and annual income tax, in line with Ethiopian tax laws.

  • Ensure timely payments of taxes and compliance with all reporting deadlines.

  • Keep up-to-date with changes in Ethiopian tax laws and regulations and advise management on their implications.

  • Oversee month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.

  • Prepare financial summaries and ensure accurate recording of transactions for audit purposes.

  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.

  • Monitor compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and local regulations.

  • Conduct periodic reviews to identify and mitigate risks in financial operations.

  • Assist in the preparation and management of budgets.

  • Process employee payroll and ensure compliance with tax deductions and reporting requirements.

  • Coordinate and facilitate external audits, providing necessary documentation and clarifications.

  • Collaborate with regulatory authorities during inspections or audits.

Job Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: BA/MA in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years in professional accounting, with expertise in Ethiopian tax and financial regulations.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills.

  • Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws, accounting standards, and financial reporting requirements.

  • Working in a factory has a plus advantage.
