Job Purpose
The GBV Case Manager (Roving) will provide confidential, compassionate, and survivor-centered GBV case management services to women, girls, and other survivors of gender-based violence in Shire and Sheraro collective centers and surrounding communities. All services must be delivered in strict compliance with the National GBV Case Management Framework and Standard Operating Procedures (SoP), Inter-Agency GBV Guidelines, and donor requirements.
The position ensures survivors’ timely access to comprehensive GBV response services, including case management, psychosocial support, referrals, dignity kits, and conditional cash assistance, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, confidentiality, accountability, and ethical practice. The role also provides technical supervision to GBV case workers and supports referral coordination and data management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Introduce Engagement with Survivors
Establish safe, confidential, and respectful engagement with GBV survivors, applying survivor-centered and trauma-informed principles.
Provide initial orientation about available services, rights, and options, ensuring survivors understand their choices.
Listen empathetically and respond to the needs of survivors while ensuring informed consent, privacy, and adherence to the 'do no harm' principle.
Build trust with communities and survivors to facilitate access to GBV services without coercion or discrimination.
2. Service Delivery and Case Management Support
Provide direct support to survivors under the guidance of the GBV Case Manager, including psychosocial support, referral facilitation, and follow-up.
Assist in implementing individualized case plans and ensuring survivors’ rights, safety, and confidentiality are upheld.
Support dignity kit distribution and cash assistance delivery, ensuring accountability, protection, and sensitivity to survivor needs.
3. Referral Coordination
Facilitate timely referrals to medical, psychosocial, legal, and protection services in line with established referral pathways.
Track referrals and report service uptake to the GBV Case Manager for monitoring and follow-up.
4. Outreach and Community Engagement
Conduct community awareness sessions on GBV risks, rights, and available services in collaboration with community structures.
Assist in community-led activities to promote positive gender norms and GBV prevention.
5. Data Management and Reporting
Maintain confidential case files, registration, and distribution records.
Report activities regularly to the GBV Case Manager, contributing to donor reports, 5Ws, and field monitoring documentation.
Ensure data is sex- and age-disaggregated, accurate, and ethically managed.
6. Field Coordination and Roving Duties
Operate across Shire and Sheraro collective centers, ensuring equitable access to services.
Participate in monitoring visits, supervision, and coordination meetings with the GBV Case Manager and project staff.
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
Diploma or bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, Sociology, Gender Studies, or a related field.
Experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in GBV or protection service delivery in humanitarian or development contexts.
Experience working with IDPs, collective centers, and GBV survivors is an advantage.
Familiarity with GBVIMS or equivalent case documentation systems preferred.
Skills and Competencies
Knowledge of survivor-centered, trauma-informed, and rights-based approaches.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and counseling support skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all activities.
Ability to work independently in field-based, roving assignments.
