Reports to: Operational Manager

Objective
To streamline clinical services by performing pre-diagnostic screenings, assisting Optometrists during examinations, and providing high-quality nursing care to patients upon their arrival at the clinic.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Pre-Diagnostic Procedures: Conduct initial patient intake by recording medical history, measuring Visual Acuity, and performing baseline eye examinations.

• Clinical Assistance: Provide hands-on support to Optometrists during comprehensive eye exams and minor in-clinic procedures.

• Medication Administration: Administer prescribed eye drops and other medications as directed by the specialist, ensuring patients understand the correct application and dosage.

• Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all diagnostic tools and medical instruments are properly sanitized, calibrated, and ready for daily use.

• Patient Counseling & Education: Educate patients on ocular hygiene, proper use of corrective lenses (glasses/contacts), and provide guidance on pre-and post-operative care.

• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and confidential daily patient records; prepare and submit operational reports as required.

Job Requirements

Education:

•  Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a recognized institution.

• Certification: Must possess a valid and up-to-date Professional Nursing License.

Experience: 

• 0 year

Technical Skills: 

• Proficiency in basic computer applications and electronic health record (EHR) systems.

• Ethics: Strong professional work ethics and a patient-centered approach to care.

Language: 

• Fluency in both Amharic and English (written and spoken).
