Currently, we work with pastoralist, agropastoral, pastoral dropouts, rural small holder farmers, rural/urban youth and street children to respond to humanitarian crises and build resilience in Ethiopia working closely with local communities, local government, donors and other key actors. GOAL E Humanitarian Response is centered on nutrition, WASH, livelihoods, multipurpose cash, NFIs and protection interventions in country wide while the recovery and development focus on livelihoods, economic opportunities, health, health and nutrition system strengthening and WASH with solid emphasis on integrated programming and community-based approach in Oromiya regional state. The Street Children programme is implemented with local partners in Addis Ababa and Hawassa.

General Description of the Role:
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Health & Nutrition Officer, the Midwifery Nurse will be responsible for providing a maternal health package composed of antenatal and newborn care. ANC including Iron Supplementation, provision of TT vaccination, distribution of clean and safe delivery kit, identification of high-risk mothers and facilitation of referral system to the nearest health facility, birth preparedness & complication readiness, counselling on Family Planning (FP), breastfeeding & HIV.
Others are promotion and perform safe delivery &/or assist linkage to maternity waiting homes at identified hospitals, post- natal care (PNC) through follow-up home visit and Vitamin A supplementation, Family Planning to lactating mothers as well as managing acute and life-threatening illnesses and provide referral services to higher health facilities as needed. The Midwifery nurse directly reports to and is technically supported by the Senior Health & Nutrition Officer
S/he will mainly be responsible for the daily implementation of the ANC, Delivery, PNC Family planning, consultation of pregnant mother outreach EPI, health education, sanitation, safe motherhood and child health as per the guideline of RHB/FMOH mobile health and Nutrition teams. S/he will also be responsible for day to day documentation of pregnant mothers, & counselling of child bearing age, people provided for health education, vaccinated children and all provided services accordingly and compile weekly and monthly reports and share with Senior Health & Nutrition Officer and Woreda health offices
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY/DUTIES (detailed list of tasks and outputs categorized by “daily,” “weekly,” “monthly,” or any other category which fits the role)
Conduct ANC, and PNC.
Provide FP, and Vaccine.
Ensure delivery plan with all registered pregnant women.
Provide health education, particularly on RH including IYCF.
Ensure referral of obstetrical emergencies.
Ensure that all specified RH activities are implemented.
Liaises and creates strong linkages with other sectors Nutrition, U5 Childhood illness OPD, SGBV, Hygiene & sanitation.
Conduct rapid assessments to identify gaps in training, the need for refresher training and additional skills strengthening of facility based MCH workers and HEWs.
Provide comprehensive high-quality RH services.
Provide technical support for the development and use of clinical RH job aids and or social and behavior change communication (SBCC) material that support the demand generation activities on RH services.
Represent GOAL in field-based coordination meetings, workshops, and task force meetings at Woreda/district level.
Keep health program activity records both in soft and hard copies and provide activity reports as required by GOAL and on time.
Ensures that RH/FP interventions are utilized as per the standard protocols, policies, and guidelines of MoH and WHO.
Provide basic health and nutrition services including community ANC, FP IMNCI/ICCM, safe motherhood, emergency services, referral, health education, EPI as per MOH Mobile health and nutrition guidelines.
Facilitate training and work closely with MOH staffs at Health posts, Health centre and hospital and district level.
Organize daily, weekly, and monthly overview and reports of ANC, FP & EPI, health education and consultations.
Ensure referral system and linkage between services and with the health facilities.
Adherence to medical and nutritional treatment protocols and procedures for children and infants.
Coordinate and facilitate implementation of mobile health and Nutrition activities, safe delivery site selection, and prepare weekly movement plan.
Provide basic health services like community ANC, FP IMNCI/ICCM, safe motherhood, emergency services, referral, health education, EPI as per Somali RHB Mobile health and nutrition guideline.
Facilitate essential drugs for pregnant women and children under five years children, supplies, and therapeutic products for the team and the selected health facilities.
Facilitate training and work closely with MOH staff at Health posts, Health centers, and district level.
Prepare and share daily, weekly, and monthly reports of ANC, PNC, FP & EPI, health education, and consultations.
Ensure referral system and linkage between services with the health facilities.
Adherence to medical and nutritional treatment protocols and procedures for children and infants.
Respect the dignity of the target group, carers, and members of the community.
Flexible and creative approach; keen to take initiative where appropriate.
Accountability & responsiveness within areas of responsibilities.
Any other task assigned by his/her supervisor (senior health and nutrition officer).
Diploma/ BSc in Midwifery/MPH-RH with a minimum of four years of experience in maternal and child health programs, preferably in NGO out of which two years should be in Mobile health and nutrition projects, preferably in NGO.
At least one year of clinical experience in directly managing RH, including family planning, antenatal care, delivery, postpartum care, comprehensive abortion care, neonatal care, and understanding and familiar with adolescent-friendly Reproductive health care services.
Up-to-date knowledge of comprehensive clinical RH management practices and its guidelines are advantageous.
Knowledge and skills in clinical mentoring of MCH clinicians.
Knowledge on culturally sound IEC/SBCC material on RH and HIV/AIDS topic.
Experience in organizing and facilitating trainings.
Excellent written and spoken English including local language.
Ability to work under pressure, long work hours and high workload.
Solid technical skill on case management of safe motherhood, childhood and adult illness.
Knowledge, training and experience in the management of FP, Reproductive health and IMNCI/ICCM.
Fosters working in teams & teamwork spirit.
Flexible and creative approach; keen to take initiative where appropriate.
Accountability & responsiveness within areas of responsibility
Knowledge of local language of the area is highly advantageous
Desirable quality, skill, and competence
Have a good understanding and hands-on experience with mobile health and nutrition projects.
Up-to-date knowledge of comprehensive clinical RH management practices and its guidelines are advantageous.
Knowledge and skills in clinical mentoring of MCH clinicians.
Familiarity to the local culture.
