Duties and Responsibilities

Key accountabilities and decision ownership: 

• Maintenance of end to end  systems/network and respective capacity reporting and analysis for E2E DWDM network.

• Troubleshoot, analyse and restore faults within the directed MTTR

• Ensure monitoring of all DWDM network elements is achieved.

• Planning and Design review across multiple transmission technologies including Fiber/DWDM/GPON/OTN, VSAT.

• Facilitate DWDM network testing and acceptance – in coordination with planning and infrastructure teams.

• Coordinate Network Improvement initiatives, in liaison with OEMs and Partners.

• Perform proper preventive maintenance of all transport network elements and document results for all nodes.

• Accountable for Spares deployed on sites

• Periodic feedback on all transmission related performance reports.

• Maintain an updated network information database

• Ensure compliance to regulator guidelines and facilitate necessary reporting on the same.

• Ensure OH&S adherence during supervised or own work execution.

• Monitor and evaluate design quality of all self-built fiber.

• Maintain fiber network Infrastructure (OSP/ISP).

Job Requirements

Education & Experience:

• Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Higher National Diploma in Electronics/Telecommunications

• 5 years experience with 3 years specialized role in a busy telecommunications environment –Involved in Transmission network operations, design, planning, installations /commissioning, and projects especially in DWDM Networks support.

• Working knowledge and experience in various transmission network technologies

• In-depth understanding of the WDM technology

• Knowledge of software defined networking principles.

• Computer literate – Able to create management reports and use project management tools
