The HR function plays a central role in nurturing talent, building systems, and ensuring that the organization grows sustainably, ethically, and competitively across all business units.

The HR Manager will lead and coordinate all human resource management functions across Petal Trading PLC’s business units.

The HR Manager is responsible for planning, developing, and managing human resource strategies, policies, and systems that support organizational effectiveness, compliance, and performance. The role ensures alignment between business strategy and people management, while promoting a positive and productive work environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

HR Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with corporate and business-unit objectives

  • Lead workforce planning, succession planning, and organizational development initiatives

Recruitment & Talent Management

  • Oversee recruitment, selection, onboarding, and placement processes

  • Design and implement performance management systems

  • Support leadership development and staff capacity-building programs

Compensation & Benefits

  • Manage salary administration, benefits, and incentive schemes

  • Ensure internal equity and external competitiveness in compensation practices

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Ethiopian labor laws and regulations

  • Handle employee relations, grievances, and disciplinary matters

  • Promote fair, ethical, and inclusive workplace practices

HR Policies, Systems & Record

  • Develop, update, and enforce HR policies, procedures, and manuals

  • Oversee HR records, HRIS, and personnel documentation

Training & Organizational Culture

  • Identify training needs and coordinate staff development programs

  • Promote organizational values, culture, and engagement initiatives

Reporting & Advisory Role

  • Prepare HR reports and analytics for management and decision-making

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior management on HR matters

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related fields

  • Master’s Degree is an added advantage

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in human resource management, with supervisory or managerial responsibility


Required Competencies & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Ethiopian labor laws and HR best practices

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving ability

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Experience in performance management and HR systems development

  • Proficiency in MS Office and HR reporting tools

  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism


Preferred Attributes

  • Experience in multi-sector or diversified organizations

  • Exposure to HR management in construction, manufacturing, or trading companies

  • Experience designing job grading, salary scales, and HR policies
