The Director, Systems Development Department provides strategic guidance and technical leadership in designing, implementing, and optimizing cutting-edge payment solutions. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your deep expertise in payment technologies and financial systems to help organizations build secure, scalable, and innovative payment infrastructures that meet evolving market demands and regulatory requirements.

The Director, Systems Development Department should closely work with senior leadership to shape payment strategies, drive digital transformation initiatives, and implement best-in-class payment architectures. 

Duties and Responsibilities

• Define comprehensive technical visions and roadmaps for modern payment processing ecosystems;

• Architect end-to-end payment solutions including gateways, APIs, and transaction processing engines;

• Spearhead adoption of emerging technologies such as blockchain-based payments, CBDCs, and Open Banking frameworks;

• Provide expert guidance on payment security, compliance, and risk management strategies;

• Lead optimization initiatives to enhance system performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency;

• Drive innovation in areas including fraud prevention, real-time payments, and cross-border transactions;

• Serve as a subject matter expert on payment protocols, standards, and industry best practices;

• Define the long-term technical vision for payment processing systems;

• Architect scalable, fault-tolerant payment solutions (gateways, APIs, transaction engines);

• Lead the adoption of next-gen payment technologies (CBDCs, Open Banking, and blockchain);

• Drive technical roadmaps in alignment with business goals (e.g., reducing transaction costs, improving success rates);

• Ensure PCI-DSS, PSD2, RBI, and GDPR compliance across all payment products;

• Design zero-trust security models (encryption, tokenization, and fraud detection);

• Lead incident response for payment failures, breaches, or fraud attacks;

• Research and pilot AI/ML for fraud prevention, blockchain settlements, or offline payments;

• Drive cloud-native payment solutions (AWS, GCP, hybrid architectures); and

• Optimize cost, latency, and reliability in high-volume transaction systems; 

Job Requirements

• BA/BSc/MSc/MA in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information systems or related fields of studies 

• 10/8 years of relevant work experience out of which 3 years in managerial or senior professional positions
