Global Women Empowerment Development, Ethiopia (GWEDE) envisions a future where the progressive pursuit of gender equality and empowerment is central to societal progress. Through integrated development and humanitarian programming, GWEDE aims to address both immediate needs and long-term structural inequalities.

GWEDE is currently implementing donor-funded humanitarian projects under the Ethiopia Humanitarian Fund (EHF) in partnership with the Partnership for Pastoralist Development Association (PAPDA) in the Somali Region. To ensure effective financial management and procurement operations, GWEDE is seeking to recruit a qualified and committed Procurement Assistant Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the procurement of goods, services, and works in line with organizational policies and donor requirements.

  • Prepare and process purchase requisitions, requests for quotations (RFQs), bids, and purchase orders.

  • Conduct market assessments, identify suppliers, and maintain an updated supplier database.

  • Ensure timely delivery of goods/services, verify quality/quantity upon receipt, and support inventory management.

  • Maintain accurate procurement records, filing systems, and tracking tools for audits and reporting.

  • Support compliance with procurement guidelines, including value-for-money, transparency, and ethical standards.

  • Coordinate with program and finance teams on procurement planning and needs assessment.

  • Assist in asset management, stock control, and logistics support as needed.

  • Contribute to periodic procurement reports and participate in supplier evaluations.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.

  • At least 3 years of experience in procurement/logistics, preferably in a humanitarian or development NGO setting.

  • Knowledge of procurement procedures, donor regulations (e.g., USAID, EU, UN), and ethical sourcing.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and procurement software/tools.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure in multicultural environments.

  • Excellent communication skills in English and local languages (e.g., Amharic advantageous).

  • Commitment to child protection, gender equality, and safeguarding principles.
