Action for Social Development and Environmental Protection Organization (ASDEPO) is an Ethiopian indigenous, “Civil Society Organization” established in 2014. ASDEPO is mandated to operate in all regional states of the country and is engaged indifferent thematic program areas of intervention namely: Humanitarian Response, Education, Health, Women and Youth Economic Empowerment, Gender Based Violence and Child Protection, Migration/Human Trafficking, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), NTD’s Climate Change, Agriculture, Environmental Protection and Training in Gambella, Oromiya, Amhara, Benishangul Gumuz, Afar, SNNPR and Somali Region.
ROLE PURPOSE:
Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of ASDEPO’s goods, passengers, or materials to designated locations. They will operate company vehicles and adhere to all traffic laws and regulations. The Driver will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and basic maintenance of ASDEPO vehicle.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Safe Transportation: Operate company vehicles (such as cars, vans, trucks, or specialized vehicles) in a safe and responsible manner, ensuring the well-being of passengers, if applicable, and the security of transported goods or materials.
Vehicle Maintenance: Perform regular inspections of the vehicle before and after each trip to ensure its mechanical fitness. Report any maintenance or repair needs promptly to the appropriate department. Keep the vehicle clean and presentable at all times.
Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and other relevant information. Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies, ensuring compliance with all applicable safety standards.
Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by maintaining a professional and courteous demeanour while interacting with customers, passengers, or other stakeholders. Assist with loading and unloading of goods, if applicable, and handle any customer inquiries or concerns promptly and professionally.
Time Management: Manage time effectively to meet delivery deadlines or scheduled appointments. Communicate any delays or issues promptly to the appropriate parties and adjust routes or schedules as required.
Communication: Maintain open and clear communication with supervisors. Report any incidents, accidents, or unusual occurrences immediately.
Safety and Emergency Preparedness: Adhere to all safety protocols and emergency procedures, including the use of safety equipment and the knowledge of evacuation routes. Take appropriate actions in case of emergencies, accidents, or breakdowns.
Job Requirements
Requirements:
Grade 12 completed
Valid level three driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
Clean driving record with no major violations.
Proven experience as a driver, preferably in a similar position or organization.
Knowledge of traffic laws and regulations.
Good understanding of vehicle mechanics and basic maintenance.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Attention to detail and a responsible approach to handling goods or materials.
Good knowledge of Addis Ababa and surrounding areas
