Under the direction and supervision of the Disaster Preparedness and Response Department Director, The Disaster Preparedness Division Manager is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and controlling disaster preparedness programs/projects of the society.
Emergency Preparedness Division Manager is responsible for Planning and coordinating preparedness efforts of the NS;
Handles and resolves issues that are brought to him or her by partners, government and non-government stakeholders, volunteers, and staff across different branches;
Coordinate and support for the development of hazard specific contingency plan.
Support efforts for resource mobilization to ensure the NS is cash ready at all times.
In collaboration with the pertinent units, initiate and take part in the development of projects or programs on the primary intervention areas for disaster preparedness, and following approval, coordinate their execution;
He/she will play leading role on building the capacity of branches and support for the establishment of national and branch level disaster preparedness teams; create mechanisms and initiatives to increase capacity,
positioning relief supplies in key areas in anticipation of disasters, locating and making available disaster management equipment,
The division head will responsible for coordinating logistical capacity building aiming for disaster prone areas for multi hazard disaster response in the country in partnership with stakeholders within and outside the Movement;
Gathers and consolidates forecasted information and prepares report on the extent of the anticipated disaster, and the resource required and its availability which are necessary for overcoming the disaster before an
outbreak of disaster in a given area;
He or she ensures that community involvement and the most vulnerable and marginalized groups—such as women, children, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities—are included in the National Society preparedness plan.
Ensures that disaster preparedness programs and projects of the Society are developed based on data and identified needs of the most vulnerable for anticipated multi hazard disasters;
Make close follow up and ensures timely delivery and transfer of funds pledges made partners of disaster preparedness initiatives;
Gather information and produce reports on how ERCS disaster preparedness initiatives and activities are performing.
Participate in the administration of the National Emergency Operation Center (EOC) to provide it with updated information for emergency preparedness and national society readiness functions;
Take the leading role for the National Society Emergency Operation Center (EOC) to be rolled out to branches and to play adequate part for preparedness of anticipated disasters.
Ensures that disaster preparedness accomplishments of the Society are kept recorded, timely communicated and the database thereof properly managed;
Facilitates report preparation and submission of branches on progresses of disaster preparedness and reports to donor organizations as per commitments;
Meet with public safety officials, private companies, and the general public to get recommendations as input for emergency Preparedness.
Represents the Society and participates in experience sharing, coordination of task force meetings, and related forums on matters of emergency preparedness initiatives of the national society.
Identify needs and Organize Emergency Preparedness training programs for staff, volunteers, and other responders.
Provides coaching and mentoring to subordinates and team members on program quality standards, management quality procedures and Disaster preparedness best practices.
Create conducive working atmosphere for staffs and develop team synergy;
Make close follow up that all National Society Emergency Preparedness programs and initiatives mainstream the creation of a culture of nonviolence and peace.
Participates in designing or revising disaster risk management policy, procedure and strategy to align with pertinent policies of the Federation of the Movement and the Government, and to accommodate contingencies;
