Duties and Responsibilities

• Modeling and planning of DWDM Transmission systems/network and respective capacity planning and analysis.

• Integrate DWDM transmission network as an enabler for E2E IP(MPLS) connectivity.

• Ensure DWDM Network build with 70% occupancy and 30% growth factor.

• Ensuring Due diligence in DWDM products introduction to network – Running of DWDM transmission/transport trials, equipment / system parameter checks and evaluation and subsequent recommendations for approval and adoption of new equipment, systems and technologies.

• Ensure monitoring of all DWDM network elements is achieved.

• Maintain an updated DWDM network information database.

• Project management of DWDM Transmission projects from inception of plans to Projects handover to operations teams.

• Management of DWDM transmission systems equipment suppliers – ensure that the solutions provided meet the technical and commercial requirements and are delivered within the required timelines.

• Liaising with teams responsible for equipment space and power availability for planned systems.

• Validation of accuracy of BOQs based on agreed design as an input to the procurement process

• Liaison with Implementation department during site surveys and visits to ensure timely monthly rollout in accordance with timeframes set in Roll out process.

• Facilitate DWDM network testing and acceptance / compliance checks – in coordination with operations teams.

• Periodic reporting on DWDM transmission network status / performance

• Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and facilitate necessary reporting on the same.

• Liaise with Technology Security team to ensure compliance with network infrastructure security policies.

• DWDM transport networks Optimization: Monitoring and planning to optimize the DWDM network.

Job Requirements

• Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Higher National Diploma in Electronics/Telecommunications

• 5+ years specialized DWDM experience role in a busy telecommunications environment –Involved in DWDM Transmission planning, installations /commissioning projects especially in the transmission field.

• Fundamental knowledge and experience in various transmission network technologies including Fiber, MW and DWDM.

• Working knowledge of IP Networks principles

• Knowledge of software-defined networking principles.

• Knowledge of network scripting / programming languages e.g. Python

• Computer literate – Able to create management reports and use project management tools

• Analytical skills
