Location: Addis Ababa
The HR Manager will oversee all Geneva Global Ethiopia staff from Country Office to regional levels by ensuring effective recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and staff development. She/He will implement HR policies, foster a positive work environment, manage employee relations, and ensure compliance with labor laws. Additionally, She/He will support staff well-being, capacity-building, and retention strategies to enhance program efficiency and sustainability.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The HR Manager is responsible for:
Recruitment and Onboarding: Managing the entire recruitment cycle, from job postings to hiring decisions, and ensuring a smooth onboarding experience for new staff.
Performance Management and Staff Development: Implementing performance appraisal systems, providing feedback, and fostering career development initiatives.
HR Policy Implementation and Compliance: Ensuring adherence to labor laws, Geneva Global HR policies, and fostering a healthy work environment.
Employee Relations and Staff Well-being: Addressing workplace concerns,
ensuring staff engagement, and developing initiatives that support employee well-being and retention.
Capacity Building and Retention Strategies: Strengthening employee skills through training programs and implementing strategies to retain top talent.
In fulfillment of these responsibilities, the HR Manager coordinates closely with other members of the GG-Eth team to ensure a fully coherent and effective overall program design, implementation, and outcomes.
Major Activities and Tasks:
The HR Manager fulfills, coordinates, and/or supports implementation of the following activities and tasks to contribute to the effective conduct of Geneva Global Ethiopia’s education program and successful attainment of the associated outcomes:
Recruitment and Onboarding: The HR Manager ensures a systematic and transparent recruitment process, attracting and selecting high-caliber talent. Key activities and tasks falling within this area of responsibility include:
Developing job descriptions and posting job advertisements.
Coordinating the selection process, including screening, interviewing, and reference checks.
Ensuring smooth onboarding, including induction programs and orientation sessions.
Performance Management and Staff Development: The HR Manager implements performance management frameworks and training programs to enhance staff capabilities. Key activities and tasks include:
Coordinating the regular performance evaluations and provision of constructive feedback by immediate supervisors.
Identifying training needs and coordinating professional development programs.
Supporting career growth opportunities for employees.
HR Policy Implementation and Compliance: The HR Manager ensures that HR practices comply with labor laws and Geneva Global policies. Key activities and tasks include:
Developing and updating HR policies in line with labor laws and best practices.
Conducting audits to ensure policy adherence.
Addressing compliance issues and providing legal guidance on HR matters.
Employee Relations and Staff Well-being: The HR Manager fosters a positive and inclusive work environment. Key activities and tasks include:
Mediating workplace conflicts and handling grievance procedures.
Organizing team-building and employee engagement activities.
Implementing wellness programs to enhance employee satisfaction and retention.
Capacity Building and Retention Strategies: The HR Manager ensures the organization retains its best talent while equipping them with essential skills. Key activities and tasks include:
Designing and implementing retention programs.
Creating mentorship and coaching initiatives.
Developing succession plans for key positions.
The HR Manager shall also perform any other duties agreed to with the Country Director. All services, duties, and activities performed or to be performed by the Employee shall be subject to the specific instructions and requirements of Geneva Global.
