Job Description

YASCAI AND FAMILY PLC invites qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the position of Resident Engineer for the construction of a B+G+8 apartment building. The Resident Engineer will oversee day-to-day site operations, ensure quality and compliance with drawings/specifications, control progress, coordinate stakeholders, and support the project to be delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Resident Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following

1) Site Supervision & Project Execution

  • Provide full-time on-site supervision of construction works for the B+G+8 building.

  • Ensure works are executed as per approved drawings, specifications, BOQ, and contract requirements.

  • Coordinate construction activities with the contractor, subcontractors, and suppliers.

2) Quality Control & Compliance

  • Implement quality control procedures, inspections, checklists, and hold points for key activities.

  • Verify materials, workmanship, and methods comply with standards and approved submittals.

  • Witness and review tests (e.g., concrete slump/cube tests, reinforcement checks, waterproofing tests, etc.).

  • Identify defects/non-conformance and ensure timely corrective actions and rework controls.

3) Progress Monitoring & Reporting

  • Prepare daily site records and weekly/monthly progress reports (physical and financial).

  • Monitor project schedule, productivity, and resource deployment; flag delays and propose recovery plans.

  • Participate in site meetings and produce minutes/action trackers.

4) Measurement, Payments & Variations

  • Check measurement sheets, IPCs/Running Bills, and certify quantities executed on site.

  • Review variation requests, claims, and site instructions with proper documentation support.

  • Assist in cost control by tracking changes and material usage.

5) Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinate with consultants, architects, structural engineers, MEP teams, and authorities as needed.

  • Ensure RFIs are raised and closed properly; support approvals of shop drawings/material submittals.

  • Lead coordination for interfaces between civil/structural and MEP works.

6) Safety, Environment & Site Management

  • Enforce site safety requirements (PPE compliance, permits, toolbox talks, housekeeping).

  • Coordinate with HSE personnel to reduce risks and maintain a safe work environment.

  • Ensure proper site logistics: storage, access, signage, and protection of completed works

7) Documentation & Handover

  • Maintain site documentation: drawings register, inspection requests, test results, approvals, and correspondence.

  • Support snagging/punch listing, commissioning coordination (as applicable), and final handover documentation.

Job Requirement:

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: BSc Degree in Civil Engineering / Construction Technology & Management / related field (Degree holder).

  • Experience: Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in building construction, with strong exposure to multi-storey projects (apartment or commercial buildings preferred).

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of structural works (RC, formwork, rebar, concrete quality) and finishing works.

  • Ability to read and interpret architectural/structural drawings, specifications, and BOQs.

  • Experience with progress reporting, measurement, and contractor coordination.

  • Good communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.\

  • Computer literacy (MS Office; AutoCAD and/or project tools are an advantage).

Preferred (Advantage)

  • Experience on B+G+8 or similar high-rise residential projects.

  • Familiarity with local building codes/standards and municipal approval processes.

  • Training in HSE, QA/QC, contract administration, or project management.
