KGM is searching for Geology Pit Supervisors with significant supervisory experience in an open-pit mining environment, to lead a team of Grade Control Technicians and Ore Spotters to ensure the accurate identification, mapping, and extraction of ore to maximize recovery and minimize waste (dilution) within the mine plan. Duties will include but are not limited to the following:-
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervision & Leadership: Coordinate and supervise the daily activities of the grade control and production teams, fostering a strong safety culture and high performance.
Drilling Programs: Manage grade control drilling programs, , liaising with drilling contractors, and ensuring all work is conducted safely and efficiently.
Data Collection & Analysis: Oversee the collection of pit samples and geological data (logging drill cuttings, in-pit mapping, face sampling). Ensure data accuracy and availability for entry into geological databases.
Ore Definition & Mark-out: Use dig plans for ore delineation to guide selective ore loading and shift sequencing with mining contactor.
Quality Control (QA/QC): Implement and monitor quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) procedures for sampling to minimize contamination.
Reconciliation & Reporting: Track and report on mining activities, including ore movements, tonnes.
Collaboration: Work closely with mining production contract personnel to optimize efficiency and achieving production targets.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure all grade control activities comply with site safety, health, environmental policies, and regulatory requirements.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Geology, Mining Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 3-5 Years of Experience in Gold Mining or Cement Factory or related heavy Industry will be Advantageous.
Applicants must be in driver’s license with proven driving experience possession of an International Driving license will be Advantageous.
Experience
Practical open-pit mining experience or grade control supervision in exploration environment.
Some experience in a mining environment, preferably in open-pit operations, is preferred.
Grade Control Experience:
Direct experience in grade control activities, such as drilling, sampling, and geological mapping, is a significant advantage.
Drilling and Sampling:
Experience with drilling equipment and techniques, as well as sample preparation and analysis, is crucial.

Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with other team members - English proficiency will be an advantage.
The ability to identify and resolve issues related to grade control and selective ore loading activities.
Understanding of the principles and practices of grade control.
Ability to accurately map geological features and structures in the pit.
Knowledge of mine safety regulations and procedures, as well as the ability to work safely in a mining environment.
