Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join our finance and operations team. This role involves working in close collaboration with our senior accountants and office administrators to support accurate financial records, manage stock levels, and ensure smooth operational workflows. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and able to coordinate effectively across departments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Take full responsibility for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports with minimal supervision.

  • Lead the month-end closing process, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.

  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities by providing reliable financial data and variance analysis.

  • Collaborate with accountant supervisors to continuously improve financial processes and internal controls.

Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable

  • Independently manage and reconcile all AP/AR activities, ensuring timely payments and collections.

  • Review and approve invoices, receipts, credit notes, and payment records before posting.

  • Monitor vendor accounts, resolve discrepancies, and maintain strong supplier relationships.

Cash & Bank Management

  • Oversee petty cash operations, ensuring proper documentation, reconciliation, and reporting.

  • Perform and supervise bank reconciliations, escalating discrepancies when needed.

  • Ensure all transactions comply with internal policies and are properly supported.

Tax Management

  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of all statutory tax reports (e.g., VAT, withholding tax, payroll tax, and other applicable taxes).

  • Maintain proper tax documentation and ensure compliance with local tax laws and regulations.

  • Coordinate with external auditors or tax authorities during tax assessments or reviews.

  • Monitor changes in tax regulations and advise management on implications and required adjustments.

Inventory & Stock Control

  • Maintain complete oversight of inventory accounting, including SIM cards, operational assets, and consumables.

  • Ensure accurate recording of stock transactions and coordinate with procurement, operations, and admin teams on replenishment.

  • Monitor stock levels, identify risks of shortages or overstocking, and implement corrective measures.

  • Lead periodic stock counts, audits, and reconciliations with internal auditors and admin staff.

Audit & Compliance

  • Work closely with internal auditors to ensure compliance with audit requirements and internal control standards.

  • Prepare audit schedules, resolve queries, and implement corrective actions after audit reviews.

  • Ensure financial documentation meets regulatory and company compliance standards.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Act as the primary accounting point-of-contact for office admin and operational teams.

  • Coordinate with accounting supervisors to align day-to-day operations with financial strategy and reporting requirements.

  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to management for decision-making.

Process Improvement

  • Evaluate current accounting and inventory procedures and propose improvements for efficiency and accuracy.

  • Assist in implementing new accounting tools, software upgrades, and workflow automation initiatives.

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Skills

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum of 3 years of practical accounting experience in a similar role.

  • Solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles and financial processes.

  • Hands-on experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks or Peachtree (Sage).

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational abilities.

  • Effective communication skills with a strong collaborative approach.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet strict deadlines.

 Preferred (Added Advantage):

  • Peachtree / Quikbook software skill

  • Experience in stock or inventory management.

  • Familiarity with ERP or stock management systems.
