Job Description

AB Advisors PLC is a leading business advisory firm working with the public sector, private sector, and non-governmental organizations investors and private sector companies in Ethiopia. Established in 2007, the company has completed nearly fifty projects across diverse industries and recently secured a one-year grant project from an international organization. We are now seeking qualified and motivated candidates for the following positions:

The Business Advisor/Business Analyst is responsible for supporting SME performance through mentoring, capacity-building, and ongoing monitoring. The role includes diagnosing performance gaps, developing financial models and cost management tools, tracking progress, and ensuring achievement of project learning objectives.

Reports to: Training & Development Officer

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct diagnostic assessments to identify financial and operational gaps in SMEs.

  • Develop financial models, cost management tools, and benchmarking templates.

  • Lead data collection and performance tracking as part of MEL activities.

  • Analyze project results and prepare reports, case studies, and actionable recommendations.

  • Coordinate insights with the Program Manager for donor reporting and communication.

  • Support SMEs in cost control, business modelling, and financial sustainability.

Number of Positions: Two (2)

Job Requirements

  • Ability to conduct financial and operational diagnostic assessments.

  • Strong skills in financial modeling, cost analysis, and performance evaluation.

  • Experience in MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning), data collection, and analysis.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis tools.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for SME engagement.

  • Ability to translate technical insights into practical business strategies.

  • Strong report writing and presentation abilities.

  • Commitment to supporting women and youth-led SMEs.

Education: BA/BSc in Finance, Economics, Business Management, Accounting, or related fields.
Experience: 2–4 years in business analysis, SME advisory, consulting, financial modeling, or project MEL. (Experience with SMEs is highly desirable.)
Postgraduate degree (MBA/MSc) is an added advantage.

Terms of Employment

  • One-year contract, renewable based on performance and funding availability.

  • Salary: As per the organization scale.

  • Place of Work: AB Advisors PLC Office, Addis Ababa.
