The purpose of the Project Support Officer (PSO) is to provide overall support to the Project Coordinator, and Community Development Officers. The post holder will also support the implementation project activities of Berek Woreda and ensure that projects are delivered in high standards and quality as per the agreed plan and proposal. He/she will ensure that the donor, government and Farm Africa compliances are met in the planning, implementation and reporting process of the project. He/she ensure that the projects are delivered in an effective and efficient way. 

The primary responsibility of the position holder will be to coordinate the planning and execution of project activities. He/she ensures community engagement in the production of improved wheat varieties, as well as the promotion of processing and marketing efforts. In collaboration with the project coordinator, he/she fosters strong partnerships with government stakeholders, community members, CBOs, consortium partners, CSOs, private sectors, and other relevant partners in the project's operational areas.

The post holder will be responsible for assisting the Project Coordinator and other team members to develop annual budget and activity plans in line with donor contracts and Farm Africa internal financial policies and procedures. The PSO will also be responsible to ensure that donor and government progress and final reports are prepared and submitted timely. He/she will also assist in organizing quarterly projects review meetings as well as the annual Project Progress Review (PPR).   

Duties and Responsibilities

• Participate in the preparation of annual project workplans and budgets.

• Support needs assessments, surveys, and studies to identify gaps, opportunities, results, impacts, and lessons learned.

• Assist in project design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation to ensure activities align with agreed plans and budgets.

• Facilitate procurement of goods and services in accordance with organizational and donor policies.

• Organize and support capacity-building workshops, trainings, field visits, and review meetings for partners, donors, and other stakeholders.

• Provide regular technical support to project activities across operational woredas, including Berke District, and collaborate closely with consortium partners and CDO staff.

• Support project data collection, management, and the internal digital monitoring system, and participate in annual outcome monitoring surveys.

• Monitor and document project progress, lessons learned, best practices, success stories, and impact on communities.

• Prepare and submit required progress reports to the donor, government, and Farm Africa management.

• Liaise and share relevant information with partners, team members, and other Farm Africa staff to strengthen coordination and support broader organizational objectives.

• Identify opportunities to improve project implementation, ensure sustainability, and explore potential scale-up or replication possibilities.

• Represent Farm Africa in assigned project implementation areas.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor

BA degree or MSC in Agronomy and other relevant discipline Project management, Plant Science, Rural development, and related Good understanding in project design, planning, implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation and reporting. Good understanding and ability on donor and government report writing and review Good understanding of inclusive development in Ethiopia and knowledge on CSA , ISFM, Wheat Value chain development, market linkage, access to finance and high value crops concepts 

Experience

Five years of program support work experience in program/project management in NGOs or governmental institutions.Experience as a technical adviser for project/program management in governmental or non-governmental organizations. Understand the sensitivity of compliances of donor, government and implementing organizations Sensitive to deadline and flexibility to act promptly Experience of project cycle management particularly project planning, implementation , monitoring and evaluation and quality report writing.
