LIYANA HEALTH CARE PLC would like to recruit potential candidates for the job position of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse at Yanet General Hospital, Addis Ababa. 

Therefore, qualified applicants who can perform the following responsibilities and satisfy mentioned requirements are invited to apply for the job vacancy. 

A Neonatal ICU Nurse works in a fast-paced and high-stress environment and expected to be highly motivated and compassionated. 

He/she will play a crucial role in providing life-saving care to critically ill newborns and their families. If he/she passionate about making a difference in the lives of others and want to work in a supportive and rewarding environment, this may be the perfect opportunity for the candidates. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Providing intensive care to infants immediately after birth and premature and severely ill newborn infants. 

  • Caring for the basic needs of infants; for example, feeding and changing diapers. 

  • Performing medical procedures; for example, inserting intravenous lines, performing tests, and administering medications. 

  • Assisting the physicians in medical procedures and treatments.

  • Using and adjusting specialized medical equipment.

  • Formulating nursing plans and evaluating the effectiveness of treatments.

  • Comforting ill newborns and anxious parents and family members.

  • Offering support to parents and family members and educating them on the at-home care of their newborn.

  • Evaluate vital sign and investigations to determine emergency intervention needs.

  • Collaborate with other professionals to develop revise treatment plans, interventions, outcomes or assessment data.

  • Identify sudden or subtle changes in a neonate’s medical condition.

  • Deliver regular updates to physicians, family members.

  • Identify malfunctioning of devices available in ICU.

  • Comforting ill newborns and anxious parents and family members.

  • Maintain accurate and complete patient records and documentation.

Job Requirements

Qualification, Work experience and Skills

  • BSc degree in Emergency and Critical Care Nurse from recognized University or BSc degree Nurse having ICU training certificate.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a NICU setting or adult ICU and can bring work experience letter.

  •  Have renewed registration and license certificate from regulatory body. 

  • Demonstrate intense empathy and communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a stressful and emotional environment.   

  • Knowledge of neonatal care practices, procedures, and treatments.

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and make decisions under pressure.

  • Commitment to providing high-quality and compassionate patient care.

  • Knowledge of MS Office.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • The ability to offer emotional support to parents, guardians, and family members.

  • Working knowledge of NICU specialized equipment.

  • The ability to work in a team.

  • The ability to offer comfort to ill newborns.
