Currently, we work with pastoralist, agropastoral, pastoral dropouts, rural small holder farmers, rural/urban youth and street children to respond to humanitarian crises and build resilience in Ethiopia working closely with local communities, local government, donors and other key actors. GOAL E Humanitarian Response is centered on nutrition, WASH, livelihoods, multipurpose cash, NFIs and protection interventions in country wide while the recovery and development focus on livelihoods, economic opportunities, health, health and nutrition system strengthening and WASH with solid emphasis on integrated programming and community-based approach in Oromiya regional state. The Street Children programme is implemented with local partners in Addis Ababa and Hawassa.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION:
The Nutrition officer will be responsible for ensuring that the CMAM protocol and guidelines are implemented to run the Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) programme in the assigned nutrition center/refugee camp
Duties & Responsibilities:
Ensure quality standards are maintained across all programmes including SC, OTP, TSFP, IYCF, MAMI, BSFP, community outreach and dietary diversification.
Undertake clinical and physical examination of all children referred to the community management of acute malnutrition (CMAM) programme on day-to-day basis.
Follow CMAM medical protocols in the distribution of routine or supplemental drugs to OTP and SC children.
Ensure the medical protocols are implemented in line with the Federal Minster of Health Guideline of treatment of SAM.
Conduct Weekly / biweekly/monthly MUAC or Twostep screening in collaboration with community engagement officer, other Nutrition officer and refugee incentive workers.
Ensure that all the nutrition phases in the inpatient protocols are followed and implemented complying with the protocol.
Ensure that there is high standard of hygiene sanitation in the SC/OTP/TSFP/ IYCF/ waiting room/screening room and Blanket Supplementary feeding room.
Undertake regular health and nutrition education sessions in collaboration with community engagement and nutrition officers in OTP/TSFP/BSFP/IYCF and SC. Give due emphasis for the children admitted in SC.
Ensure that children are referred to TSFP/OTP or SC programme based on the national protocol/ international protocols considering all the criteria for referral.
Work closely and understand the C-MAMI programme: · Coordinate absentee, defaulter, static weight, loss of weight and follow-up with community engagement officer supervisor in the programme so that they could be traced and followed up.
Assist in the setting up and smooth operation of the stabilization centers and outpatient therapeutic program in the nutrition programmes.
Work with Community Engagement officers to improve their ability to recognize cause and signs of malnutrition, provide appropriate education to target groups and community to help mitigate MN and refer individuals as appropriate.
Work in collaboration with IYCF officers with outreach and center based IYCFP activities.
Use proper formats for item distribution and submit the documents (BDRS) on time.
Ensure daily tally sheets are done and all the program documents (registration book, tally sheets and reports) are in the appropriate place.
Submit a monthly and weekly statistical report to the Project manager on time.
Submit a monthly narrative report in line with GE reporting template to the Project manager on time. Capacity Building.
Plan and conduct training and refresher training for Nutrition assistant/Incentive/COAs when possible, in the management of severe acute malnutrition.
Supervise nutrition assistant/Incentive working in the Stabilization Centre (SC) and outpatient therapeutic, BSFP program.
In consultation with Project manager facilitate sharing of lessons learned to other partners/stakeholders.
Provide effective coaching and mentoring guidance to the nutrition assistant so t
Investigate the causes of non-responding and refer children to Stabilization Centrhat they can measure and register smoothly.e (SC) in collaboration with community engagement officer.
Ensure routine and supplemental drugs are requested on time and distributed to intended targeted group.
Liaise with the community Volunteers to ensure comprehensive community engagement officer and mobilization, health education and treatment are undertaken per the guidelines.
Check that all messages to carers, community groups, leaders and authorities are consistent and fully understood.
Provide technical assistance to the stake holders/partners in planning of training for Incentives/COAs and other key figures in the community (Traditional healers, religious leaders, influential groups…)
Perform/Assist in any other tasks as required by the Project manager-refugee.
Document and file all relevant information of the targeted group according to Donor’s requirement and keep those documents in a very accessible place.
Respect the dignity of the target group, careers and members of the community.
Liaise with the community Volunteers to ensure comprehensive community outreach and mobilization, health education and treatment are undertaken per the guidelines. Check that all messages to careers, community groups, leaders and authorities are consistent and fully understood.

Diploma or BSc degree in nursing with a minimum of two (2) years of experience for BSc holder and four (4) years ‘experience for Diploma holder in CMAM- program preferably in NGO environment.
Familiarity with local culture, knowledge of local language.
Passionate, strongly dedicated and highly committed to work for the improvement of the poor community.
