Job Description

The Investigation and Enforcement Officer is a mid-level position responsible for conducting investigations into alleged regulatory violations, assisting in developing enforcement strategies, and working closely with other team members to ensure compliance with capital market regulations. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Conduct thorough investigations into suspected violations, including data gathering, analysis, and report preparation.

  • Interview witnesses, gather testimonies, and collaborate with external parties as necessary.

  • Prepare comprehensive investigation reports and recommendations for enforcement actions.

  • Support senior team members in complex investigations, including case strategy development and evidence review.

  • Ensure all enforcement activities are conducted in compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies.

  • Collaborate with other departments such as legal and supervision to support the enforcement process.

  • Maintain accurate and organized records of ongoing investigations and enforcement actions.

  • Participate in training sessions and knowledge-sharing initiatives to stay updated on regulatory changes.

  • Conducting research to understand complex financial transactions, instruments, and market practices relevant to ongoing investigations

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in, Economics, Accounting and Finance, Banking & Finance, or a field related to the Job function from an accredited or recognized learning institution

  •  2 years of relevant experience

Ethiopian Capital Market Authority is established by Capital Market Proclamation No 1248/2021 as an autonomous Federal Regulatory Authority. One of the major objectives of ECMA is to ensure the existence of a capital market environment in which securities can be issued and traded in an orderly, fair, and efficient manner. ECMA, as a regulatory authority, grants licenses to any person to operate as a security exchange, derivative exchange, security depository and clearing company, capital market service provider, over-the-counter trading facility or any other activity deemed by ECMA as a regulated activity under its jurisdiction. ECMA regulates and oversees trading in primary and secondary markets of securities, the use of electronic trading platforms that deal with securities and gives recognition and oversees the activities of self-regulatory organizations.
