Emmanuel Development Association (EDA) is a not-for-profit organization registered in Ethiopia under the organizations of Civil Societies Proclamation No.1113/2019 on July 22,2019 with certificate No. 0196. EDA works to improve the wellbeing of vulnerable children, youth and women through promoting rights based and community-led development approach in Ethiopia.

EDA is looking for qualified candidates to fill the following positions:

Position 3: Project Finance Officer

Location: Addis Ababa 
Contract Type: One year contact with a possible extension based on Performance
Reports to: Finance Manager

Windows of Hope project aims to create sustainable job opportunities for vulnerable youth — including young women, persons with disabilities, and internally displaced persons (IDPs) — by empowering Youth-Led Organizations (YLOs) engaged in the garment and leather sectors. The project will be implemented in Akaki Kality and Nifas Silk-Lafto sub-cities of Addis Ababa, focusing on:

• Strengthening the capacity of YLOs to provide skills training and employment facilitation 

• Supporting access to finance, work premises, and market linkages and 

• Promoting inclusive job creation that will reach approximately 5,000 youth

The purpose of the finance officer position is to follow-up the day-to-day financial routines of the project. The incumbent processes payments, post transactions, prepares interim financial reports to the management and the donor, and ensures proper handling of documents.

Key Responsibilities

• Processes fund transfers to Youth-led Organizations (YLOs)

• Monitors the financial performance and compliance of YLOs with budgets

• Supports the YLOs team in areas of financial reporting and budget control

• Prepare financial reports on YLOs implementation

• Prepares monthly Budget vs Actual (Variance Analysis)

• Process payroll for the project staff

• Prepare project payments and manage travel advances

• Prepares monthly bank reconciliations

• Assists external auditors in their review of projects financial statements

• Facilitates financial monitoring review activities by the donor

Job Requirements

Qualification & Experience

• Minimum BA Degree in Accounting/Accounting and Finance from a recognized university

• Minimum of 4 (four) years working experience in NGO as a project accountant or equivalent

Additional Requirements

• Ability to work in team and different culture

• Strong communication & inter-personal skills

• Strong computer skill in Microsoft office (Exell, word, and power point)

• Strong financial software skill preferably Peachtree Accounting software

• Strong analytical skills

• Strong budgeting and financial reporting skills

• Attention to details

• Knowledge of local taxation, CSO laws and regulation

• Trainings in IPSAS

• Excellent communication skill in Amharic and English languages (both written and spoken)
