Job Description

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The Woreda Project Officer will play a key role in coordinating and facilitating the implementation of project activities in one of the target woredas.

  • Coordinate day-to-day planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities in the assigned woreda.

  • Facilitate training programs for farmers and cooperatives on agroforestry, sustainable land management, and EUDR compliance.

  • Support nursery establishment, management, and distribution of seedlings for enset-based garden coffee systems.

  • Facilitate cooperative strengthening, value chain development, and women’s empowerment activities.

  • Work closely with woreda-level government offices, community organizations, and project partners to ensure integration of project activities into local development plans.

  • Support data collection, field monitoring, and timely reporting of project progress, lessons learned, and success stories.

  • Coordinate EUDR-related activities, including farmer registration, land certification facilitation, and use of traceability tools.

  • Organize and support woreda-level stakeholder consultations, awareness events, and multi-actor forums.

  • Ensure documentation, knowledge sharing, and effective communication of project activities at the woreda level.

  • Represent the project in woreda coordination meetings and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.

Job Requirement

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or above in Agriculture, Coffee agronomy, Agroforestry, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience in community development, sustainable agriculture, or natural resource management.

  • Proven experience working with smallholder farmers, cooperatives, or local government institutions.

  • Familiarity with coffee production systems, agroforestry, and climate-resilient farming practices is an asset.

  • Knowledge of environmental sustainability, traceability systems, and/or EUDR-related compliance is advantageous.

  • Strong facilitation, communication, and report-writing skills.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Fluency in local language(s) of Kafa Zone (Kaffi Noono and/or Tsara and/or Nayi) is an added advantage.

Duration: Three (3) Years (October 2025- September 2028)
Employment Type: Full-time, Project-based Contract

Duty Station: One of the Project Woredas, Kafa Zone, Southwest Ethiopia People’s Region
