To lead the engineering design, process planning, and production optimization activities of the metalwork factory. The role ensures that all products and fabrication processes are technically sound, cost-effective, and compliant with client specifications, industry standards (ISO, ASTM, EN), and internal quality targets.

Key Responsibilities

A. Product & Design Engineering

1. Lead the design of metal structures, fabricated assemblies, and custom engineering products using CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor).

2. Review client specifications, drawings, and tenders to prepare detailed shop drawings and BOMs.

3. Develop standard product design templates and ensure design standardization across product lines (trusses, control panels, brackets, racks, etc.).

4. Approve engineering drawings for production and ensure manufacturability, quality, and safety compliance.

5. Coordinate with the marketing and estimation teams to support technical proposals and costing.

B. Process Engineering & Optimization

1. Develop and implement efficient manufacturing processes for cutting, bending, punching, welding, machining, and surface finishing.

2. Conduct time motion studies to optimize production cycles and minimize waste.

3. Prepare detailed process sheets, jigs & fixture designs, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

4. Continuously improve production flow, machine utilization, and line balancing.

5. Evaluate new manufacturing technologies (e.g., CNC plasma, robotic welding, or powder coating automation).

C. Production Planning & Control/ supervisor 

1. Coordinate with PPC to translate design data into material requirement plans and production schedules.

2. Monitor production progress against design and process targets, ensuring timely delivery.

3. Analyze bottlenecks, downtime, and process deviations; implement corrective actions.

D. Quality & Standards Compliance

1. Ensure all designs and processes comply with ISO 9001, EN 1090, and local manufacturing standards.

2. Collaborate with QA/QC to develop inspection & testing plans for metalwork products.

3. Maintain traceability of engineering documents, process sheets, and test records.

E. Team Leadership & Coordination

1. Lead and mentor the engineering and process team through training and performance reviews.

2. Foster collaboration between design, production, procurement, and quality departments.

3. Report key engineering and process KPIs to management (yield, rework, efficiency, cycle time).

Job Requirements

Education:

• BSc/MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering.

Experience:

• Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in metal fabrication, manufacturing, or steel structure production.

• Proven record of leading design and process engineering teams in a workshop or industrial setting.

• Proven experience leading design or process engineering teams in a factory environment.

Technical Skills:

• Strong hands-on experience in CNC programming and operation for various machines, including: CNC Laser Cutting Machine (nesting optimization, toolpath generation, material utilization), CNC Press Brake (bending sequence simulation and programming.

• Demonstrated ability to integrate CAD/CAM systems (e.g., AutoCAD + Solid CAM / Mastercam) into production workflows.

• Experience in troubleshooting CNC programs, minimizing setup time, and ensuring dimensional accuracy.

• Knowledge of sheet metal design, welding standards, and fabrication processes.

• Familiar with lean manufacturing, process mapping, and cost optimization.

• Understanding of materials (carbon steel, stainless, galvanized) and relevant codes (ASTM, EN, ISO).
