Duties & Responsibilities:

Farmer Training & Capacity Building

• Conduct regular hands-on training sessions for dairy farmers on:

• Proper animal nutrition and feeding practices

• Proper dairy farm management

• Hygienic milking procedures and udder health management

• Milk handling, storage, and basic processing techniques

• Disease prevention and basic veterinary care

• Adapt training methods and materials to local needs and literacy levels.

Continuous Field Support & Mentoring

• Provide hands-on technical support to farmers and monitor adoption of improved practices.

• Conduct regular farm visits to observe, coach, and guide farmers based on their specific needs.

• Facilitate ongoing learning and behavioral change among farmer groups.

• Provide daily technical assistance to assigned farmer groups

• Demonstrate best practices through on-farm implementation

Stakeholder Engagement

• Liaise between farmers, collectors, and processors

• Facilitate farmer group meetings and experience sharing sessions

• Represent the project in relevant dairy sector meetings and forums

Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain detailed records of farmer progress

• Prepare activity reports and document success stories and challenges

Job Requirements

Education:  BSc and above in Animal Sciences, Veterinary Science, or other related fields

Experience:  Proven experience of 5-10 years

Skills & Competencies:

• Fluency in Amharic and English (Afan Oromo preferable)

• Strong interpersonal and training facilitation skills

• Ability to simplify technical concepts for farmers

Personal Attributes:

• Willingness to spend the working time in the field

• Patient and culturally sensitive approach

• Problem-solving attitude

Working Conditions

• Based at one of the three project hubs (applicants must specify the preference)

• Extensive daily travel within assigned zone

• The contract will be terminated after one year. However, based on the evaluation of the performance, it could be extended up to 4 years.

Salary: According to organizational scale
