The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, is looking for a motivated Trade Development Officer (TDO) to enhance and strengthen the business diplomacy & Commercial relationship between Pakistan and Ethiopia. The candidate should have the right blend of analytical talent of business knowledge & should be an outstanding team player to identify new market opportunities in the host country.

Report to: - Trade and Investment Minister

Location:- Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Salary: - Negotiable

Term: One year, extendable for another two years. However, quarterly monitoring of satisfactory performance would be required for the continuation of the contract.

Number of Position:- One (1)

Duties and Responsibilities:-

  • Carry out all types of market analyses of commodities transacted in the host country.

  • Indicate potential areas of export promotion of Pakistani products.

  • Contact Ethiopian importers and arrange any economic activities concerning Pakistan.

  • Facilitate international EXPO (Business activities) between the Embassy and Ethiopian Chamber of Comers.

  • Assist and coordinate business meetings between the Embassy trade sector and local private companies and/or government trade sector.

  • Arrange Participation of reputable business companies and importers in exhibitions Scheduled in Pakistan.

  • Develop business and marketing plans in coordination with the managing director

  • Effectively manage customer calls and appointments for new business opportunities.

  • Participate in local industries and business forums, client discussions, and conferences to assist the Embassy.

  • Follows client relationship management database & utilizes it to manage customer contacts and mailing lists.​

  • Provide Translation of business documents (English-to-Amharic and vice versa)

  • Manage VAT claiming at Ethiopian Customs and Revenue Authority

  • Facilitate business visa requests and follow up of visas at MOFA and immigration, etc.

  • Recommend/arrange business fairs and exhibitions of Pakistani products in the host country.

Job Requirement

  • The Applicant should preferably have an MBA/Masters in Economics/commerce/international trade, or related, with a minimum of 3 years of proven work experience related to the position.

Skills

  • Maintaining relations with local representatives of the business community related to public & private sector executives.

  • Building positive commercial dynamics with local trade and business organizations to create a cooperative relationship and optimize information exchange

  • Strong customer relationship skills to generate a high volume of prospective clients.

  • Excellent written & oral communication skills in both English and Amharic.

  • Strong skills in Computer applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-mail, Outlook Internet, etc.)

  • Knowledge of customs law/Commercial regulations is essential.

  • Information about data of import & export is essential.
