PIN currently invites applicants for the position of: Head of Finance

Contract Duration: 12 months with possibility of extension

Starting date: June 2025

Line Manager: Country Director (CD)

Base: Hawassa/Addis Ababa (Ethiopia)

  • About the role:

  • Under the direct supervision of the Country Director, the Head of Finance (HoF) will be responsible for finance and accounting of Ethiopia Country Programme, including the mission economy and coverage, financial project management, including preparation of projects´ budgets and financial reports as well as accounting. The HoF participates in the set up and promotes the knowledge of PIN financial and operational procedures across the whole Ethiopia team and is responsible for compliance with PIN guidelines, donors´ rules as well as local legal requirements. The HoF has overall responsibility for sufficient capacities and clear division of tasks and responsibilities within the finance team and capacity building to the team members.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Finance and Accounting national team while ensuring it has sufficient capacity both in number and qualification and securing their continuous capacity building based on personal development plans;

  • Ensure that Systems support the implementation of the Country Strategy and that procedures and regulations are implemented in full transparency and in compliance with donors´ and PIN rules;

  • Prepares financial and economic overviews and interprets economic data for country programme and programme management teams;

  • In cooperation with the financial team guarantees that financial requirements are met in all sectors, including budgeting, reporting, and accounting of the country programme.

Job Requirements

  • Previous work for INGO abroad of the country of residence, preferably direct experience from the country program level

  • Significant previous experience with managing systems, particularly finance

  • Experience with working with finance management, project budgets and international donors´ requirements

  • Experience with team management and supervision

  • Ability to work in difficult conditions and under pressure

  • Strong coordination, organizational, critical analysis and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication skills, including fluent spoken and written English

  • IT literacy, advanced knowledge of MS Excel, working experience with accounting and economic software

  • University degree preferably in Finance/Economics, Logistic, Public Administration, Law or a related discipline
