Job Description

Ethiopia Green is a joint venture between Ethiopian Investment Holdings (EIH), Asset green and Ethiopian Agricultural Business Corporation (EABC) registered in Ethiopia. Its objective is to set up a large-scale vertically integrated animal feed production – livestock breeding – and milk processing facility in Ethiopia. Currently, the Company is preparing to launch the development phase of such a facility. The Company will shortly engage a Developer/Consultant to carry out, during the next 12 months, an extensive study to analyse the viability of such a venture and to plan its execution.

For this purpose, the Company will set up an office which will, amongst other things, monitor the performance of the Developer/Consultant and that will manage the Company’s relationship with stakeholders.

The main roles of the prospective candidate are to execute the financial transactions of the Company; to maintain relations with private and public sector entities and regulatory authorities; and, to safeguard the financial policies and rules of the Company

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Under the direct supervision of the CEO to:

  • Execute all financial transactions of the Company, both incoming and outgoing, in accordance with the standard financial operating procedures of the Company in a prompt manner;

  • Prepare and maintain the budget of the Company and to produce periodic financial projections; and, to ensure expenditures are within the approved budget;

  • Ensure compliance with Ethiopian financial and tax laws and regulations and the financial policies of the Company;

  • Co-authorize and co-sign payment instructions in accordance with the policies of the Company;

  • Maintain an up-to-date and thorough recording of the financial transactions of the Company in accordance with the financial standard and system adopted for the purpose and to set up and maintain an inventory system adequate for the Company;

  • Participate in the procurement exercise of the Company and ensure that expenditures are within the approved budgetary limits;

  • Regularly liaise with the accounting advisory firm appointed by the Company and to provide financial records as requested by the advisory firm;

  • Keep track of fluctuations in the foreign currency market and in prices of goods/services that are relevant to the work of the Company in order to mitigate risks;

  • Maintain relationships with the banks selected to provide banking services to the Company and ensure that such services are delivered promptly and at a minimum cost to the Company;

  • Liaise regularly with Federal revenue authorities and to ensure timely submission of tax declarations and the settlement of same on time;

  • Liaise with insurance companies providing insurance coverage to the firm and to ensure such coverage is adequate and is provided at minimal cost to the Company; and,

  • Ensure periodic and annual financial reports are produced on time; and,

  • To carry out any other activities as required.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree; preferably a Master’s degree from a recognized academic institution in accounting, finance or related fields;

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in relevant positions within recognized private or public sector organizations;

  • Knowledge of Ethiopian financial laws, regulations and directives

  • Knowledge of the IFRS accounting standard;

  • Knowledge of Peachtree or equivalent accounting software

  • Certification in accounting and finance fields carries additional merit
