Job Description
The Kabribeya water supply system is characterized as a large water supply system with boreholes, main bulk supply pipelines, and various infrastructures along the routes of the lines. There are also reticulation networks to provide water to both the Kabribeya refugee camps and the host community. The AWBARE TOWN intends to recruit a qualified Plumber.
SCOPE OF WORK
The Plumber position is key in the operation and maintenance work of the AWBARE Water Utility. The plumber must operate and maintain the water supply scheme to accurately identify problems of the water pipes and make preventive and on-time repairs. The Plumber reports directly to the Manager of Operations and Maintenance of the AWBARE TOWN.
Ensure the provision of an efficient and effective plumbing system.
Ensure proper installation to exclude rework needs.
Ensure all pipelines are working well.

1. Scheduled, installed, and repaired pumps.
ACTIVITIES TO ENSURE THE DESIRED KEY RESULTS
Installation and Repair:
Review Plans and Specifications: Determine the layout for plumbing and related materials by reviewing plans and specifications.
Identify Required Tools and Equipment: Select the type and size of pipe required and identify necessary tools and special equipment.
Mark Positions for Connections and Fixtures: Locate and mark positions for connections, fixtures, and supports.
Install Supports and Hangers: Install supports and hangers for pipes, fixtures, and equipment.
Assemble and Install Valves and Fittings: Assemble and install valves and fittings.
Install, Repair, and Maintain Water Treatment Equipment: Work on water treatment equipment, piping, and controls.
Install, Repair, and Maintain Underground Piping Systems: Work on underground storm, sanitary, and water piping systems.
Install, Repair, and Maintain Plumbing Fixtures: Work on plumbing fixtures, appliances, and trim.
Test Pipe Systems and Fixtures: Test pipe systems and fixtures for leaks
Emergency Response:
· Respond to emergency calls and repair leaks, burst pipes, and other urgent plumbing issues promptly.
· Ensure that emergency repairs are completed safely and in compliance with regulatory standards.
Maintenance and Inspection:
Conduct regular maintenance on plumbing systems to prevent breakdowns and extend the lifespan of equipment.
Inspect pipes, fixtures, and equipment to identify signs of wear, corrosion, or damage.
Perform preventive maintenance tasks, such as cleaning drains, replacing worn parts, and testing water pressure.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements related to plumbing work.
Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, following best practices for safety and efficiency
Documentation and Reporting:
· Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including work orders, parts used, and time spent.
· Generate reports on maintenance activities and provide updates to the Operations and Maintenance Manager as needed.
Team Collaboration:
· Collaborate with other maintenance staff to ensure seamless coordination of plumbing activities.
· Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay updated on best practices and emerging technologies.
· Provide guidance and support to less experienced team members as needed.
Education:
TVET level III or equivalent. Vocational training in plumbing or a related field is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in plumbing, preferably within the water utility or infrastructure sector.
Proven track record in installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems.
Experience with emergency response and repair work.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong technical skills in plumbing, including pipe fitting, soldering, and fixture installation.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Proficiency in using plumbing tools and equipment.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and repair plumbing issues efficiently.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory requirements related to plumbing work.
Certifications:
Valid plumbing license or certification as required by local regulations.
Certification in first aid and CPR is a plus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Field-based role with regular visits to various sites within the utility's service area.
Standard business hours, with flexibility to respond to emergencies and critical maintenance needs.
Work may involve physical labor, including lifting heavy objects and working in confined spaces
