The position is for a full-time Researcher position based in Addis Ababa. The successful candidate shall undertake evidence syntheses, analyses, research, and evaluation. 

The candidate will report to the Reproductive Health division of Health System Research Directorate

Responsibilities

  1. Undertake evidence syntheses, data analyses and evaluation. Conduct reproductive health related research and report writing

  2. Designing and executing studies to understand the spatial aspects of reproductive health, such as access to reproductive health services, geographic disparities in reproductive health outcomes, and the impact of environmental factors on reproductive health.

  3. Contribute and participate in capacity-building activities / Training and mentoring other public health professionals and researchers to build a strong workforce capable of addressing reproductive health challenges.

  4. Writing and publishing research papers in peer-reviewed journals to share findings with the scientific community and contribute to the body of knowledge on reproductive health.

  5. Working with other researchers, public health professionals, and policymakers to address reproductive health issues and develop evidence-based interventions.

  6. Ensuring that all research is conducted ethically, respecting the rights and privacy of study participants.

  7. Writing grant proposals to secure funding for research projects or public health programs.

  8. Implementing the project’s research agenda under the guidance of project lead.

  9. Conduct monitoring and evaluation activities, under the direction of project lead.

  10. Participate in disseminating results from the division and directorate

  11. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the senior researchers and /or the director.

Job Requirements

Candidate requirements:

  • Must hold PhD in public health with speciality reproductive health or public health

  • Must have minimum of 5 years working experience as a researcher, coordinator.

  • Proficiency in advanced data analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, Stata, R, NVivo) and research methodologies (both qualitative and quantitative).

  • Proven track record at least 5 publication research findings in peer-reviewed journals, presenting at international conferences, and contributing to health policy discussions.

  • Knowledge of health system frameworks, including universal health coverage, quality of care, health equity, and access to healthcare services.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to compile and synthesize data and findings into polished comprehensive final reports.
