About the role:
The position is for a full-time Researcher position based in Addis Ababa. The successful candidate shall undertake healthcare service delivery research
The candidate will report to the healthcare service delivery division
Design and conduct epidemiological studies focused on healthcare service delivery, health outcomes, and public health interventions.
Develop research protocols, including study objectives, methodology, data collection plans, and analysis strategies related to healthcare services and health systems.
Implement and manage field-based data collection efforts, ensuring accurate and timely data gathering from healthcare facilities and communities.
Conduct health outcomes assessments, including evaluation of public health interventions and health program effectiveness.
Coordinate and oversee research projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, quality standards, and budget constraints.
Promote the integration of research findings into healthcare practice by organizing seminars, workshops, or conferences for healthcare professionals and policymakers.
Prepare and submit grant proposals for research funding, ensuring alignment with the strategic objectives of the research division and the broader health system goals.
Manage research budgets and ensure effective utilization of resources allocated for research initiatives.
Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks for on-going research projects and health system interventions.
Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences to disseminate knowledge on healthcare service delivery.
Engage in dissemination activities to ensure that findings reach and impact relevant stakeholders, including policy and decision-makers in the health sector.
Collaborate with local and international stakeholders, including government ministries, healthcare providers, academic institutions, and non-governmental organizations.
Actively engage with the community to understand their healthcare needs, ensuring that research is responsive to the priorities of the populations served.
Perform other duties as may be assigned by the senior researchers and /or the director.
Candidate requirements:
Must hold a minimum of MD or MPH in maternal and child heath, and public health.
Must have minimum of 5 years working experience
Experience in conducting epidemiological research including study design, data collection, analysis, and reporting, particularly in relation to health system performance and service delivery models.
Having experience as research coordinator, researcher, medical director and other leaderships positions
Hands-on experience with field-based data collection in health service delivery contexts, especially in public health or clinical settings.
Experience in designing surveys and research protocols, as well as data management and analysis for health research projects.
Proficiency in epidemiological data analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, Stata, SAS, R) and statistical modelling techniques used in public health research.
Proven track record of publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals is advantage
Knowledge of health system frameworks, including universal health coverage, quality of care, health equity, and access to healthcare services.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to compile and synthesize data and findings into polished comprehensive final reports.
A commitment to improving healthcare service delivery, with a focus on equity, access, and quality of care.
Proactive, innovative, and flexible approach to problem-solving within health systems and research contexts.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
