Duties and Responsibilities

Driving:

• Drives project vehicles of different models for transportation of authorized passengers or goods as assigned. Ensures safety and welfare of passengers, observes basic safety rules and regulations

• Keeps the assigned vehicle clean and in good operating condition and performs minor maintenance when necessary

• Checks lights, brakes, battery, radiator, oil levels, tyres pressure etc. regularly, and reports any damage for necessary actions

• Clearly maintains the daily vehicle logbook in English, detailing all trips (journey specifics), speedometer readings, distance travelled, and fuel purchases (in litters and birr).

• Ensures validity of his driving license

• Accomplish all assignments in agreement with all senior and junior experts in the project

• Does not drink alcohol or use other drugs before and during driving

Other professional tasks:

• If there is no outside driving activity, s/he stands by in the office, supports other colleagues in case of need, and does other office work as assigned

• Report any incident whilst off duty that may affect his/her driving license entitlement, as well as any newly known health problems that may affect his/her ability to drive

• Assist in and/or carries out other activities and any tasks as assigned.

• Flexibility to work outside regular office hours when necessary.

Job Requirements

Formal Education

• 10th or 12th Grade Complete

Other Qualifications

• Must possess a valid 3rd Grade driver’s license. Holding an Auto Mechanic certificate is a plus.

• Good English skills, oral

• Discipline and punctuality

Professional Experience

• Minimum of 5 years  working experience as a driver, with references

• No history of major accidents within the past 5 years

• Prior experience with NGOs is a plus.

Place of work: Rural Land Administration and Use Lead Executive office of the Ministry of Agriculture in Addis Ababa

Length of work agreement: Until August 2028
