The Gender and Social Inclusion Officer will support the Gender and Inclusion specialist in the implementation of Kifiya’s gender equality and social inclusion strategy and initiatives. This includes supporting the development and implementation of gender-responsive and inclusive policies and procedures, supporting gender and inclusion mainstreaming across program and business teams, and contributing to continuous learning, reflection and improvement. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and analysis to identify gaps and opportunities to leverage Kifiya’s innovative solutions to advance inclusion and gender equality goals. 

  • Support the implementation and regular updating of the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion strategy. 

  • Collaborate with program and business teams to integrate gender and inclusion perspectives throughout program planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.

  • Review and provide input into program activities, approaches and outputs, ensuring they are gender-responsive and inclusive. 

  • Develop and provide training to staff and stakeholders on topics related to intersections of access to finance, gender equality, and social inclusion. 

  • Contribute to monitoring, evaluation, reporting and learning on gender and inclusion activities. 

  • Initiate and coordinate stakeholder engagement, including Kifiya’s Youth Advisory Group.

  • Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and developments in gender equality and social inclusion

  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Master's degree in development studies, gender studies or other relevant field and 2 years of experience or Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience. 

Experience

  • 4+ years of experience in research, consulting, program/project management, program implementation, and/or strategy and planning.

  • Experience working in the following areas gender equality, social inclusion, disability inclusion, youth programming, financial inclusion, and/or corporate social responsibility and ESG

Competency/Prerequisites:

  • Experience conducting research and analysis including literature reviews, data collection, qualitative and basic quantitative analysis, and synthesis 

  • Track record of developing and implementing gender-responsive and inclusive programs and initiatives

  • Knowledge of gender equality principles, youth empowerment, social inclusion and gender and inclusion mainstreaming strategies

  • Familiarity with gender and inclusion in the context of access to finance and financial inclusion

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent writing and presentation skills, including ability to tailor communication to purpose and audience 

  • Flexible and willing to respond to evolving program and organization needs in an innovative and agile workplace 

  • Collaborative, with strong interpersonal skills, including effective remote communication and collaboration

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Sensitivity to cultural and social dynamics and the ability to navigate these dynamics effectively
