JOB TITLE: Field Project Coordinator
REPORT TO: Project Director
DEPARTMENT/PROJECT: REACH PROJECT  
DUTY STATION: Yabello, Borena

EngenderHealth-Ethiopia is currently planning to implement the REACH (Reach, Expand, and Access Community Health) project, an integrated SRHR/MHM, and WaSH intervention in the Jimma and Borana zones of Oromia Region. The REACH project will be implemented by a consortium of EngenderHealth, Amref Health Africa, and DKT. EngenderHealth would like an employee well qualified and dedicated candidate as its Field Project Coordinator for Borana field offices at the duty station of Yabello for the REACH project which aims to fulfill the SRHR/MHM, WaSH, and Nutritional needs of Women and young people in Borana zone. This will be a local hire position with an anticipated start date of January 15, 2025; qualified women applicants are highly encouraged to apply.

The Field Project Coordinator under the supervision of the Project Director will be responsible for will be responsible for the overall management and coordination of the integrated, consortium-run REACH project implementation in the given geography/area. The Field Coordinator will be responsible for leading the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of all project activities among the consortium members; EngenderHealth, Amref, and DKT. The position holder will also represent EngenderHealth and the REACH consortium in relevant regional forums and will ensure the establishment of functioning partnerships with all reverent stakeholders in the region; mainly with the public offices (education, WaSH, and Health Offices), CORDAID, FGAE, and other related partners.  The Field Coordinator will work to make sure the project database is updated regularly, compile project Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and provide assistance in meeting the project commitment to the donor; in meeting project outcome-based performance timely. The Field Coordinator will also make sure baseline, midline, and end-line assessment findings are well integrated into the project implementation. The Field Coordinator will also lead and coordinate the preparation and submission of unified project reports for the consortium, and coordinate the documentation and dissemination of findings, The Field Coordinator will be responsible for making sure that project reports are timely communicated with public signatories.

Essential Functions

Responsible for the overall management of the EngenderHealth-led unified REACH project office in Borana.

  • Coordinate, develop, and share annual operations plans for the geographic area and work in close collaboration and partnership with consortium members, regional governments, and partners.

  • Responsible for day-to-day project implementation and coordination in the given area and provides overall support, coaching, and guidance to program officers under his/her supervision to ensure proper implementation of project activities.

  • Compile and produce unified and periodic reports, monthly, semiannual, and annual progress reports for the activities in the field office.

  • Represent EngenderHealth/Ethiopia and the REACH project in the area.

  • Ensure the establishment of a project advisory team and liaise with stakeholders in the area to ensure an effective and efficient REACH Project intervention.

  • Support regional and zonal platforms to coordinate project intervention and ensure sustainability by engaging civil societies, youth structures, and academic institutions.

  • Follow data capturing, cleaning, management and collaborate with a local independent and external verifier to meet the requirements of outcome-based financings.

  • Regularly follow and update the project director and the consortium team on the status of key performance indicators to make sure the project meets its deliverables.

  • Liaise with public signatories and draft, share for review, and finally submit semiannual and annual project reports.

  • Takes responsibility for the unified project human resource management, coordinates logistic management, and is responsible for EngenderHealth financial field-level financial management.

Job Requirements

  • Public Health or Medical Doctor with program management experience.   

  • Six (6+) years' experience for a first degree and Four (4+) years' experience for a master's in managing and coordinating FP/RH-related programs preferably in an NGO. 

  • Experience with and understanding of the regional, Zonal, and Woreda-level health system.

ESSENTIAL SOFT SKILLS

  • Committed to EngenderHealth’s core organizational values of reflection, inclusion, integrity, respect, and transformation.

  • Good understanding and working experience with SRHR, WaSH, and Nutrition interventions among youth, and women of reproductive age.

  • Demonstrated communication and analytical skills.

  • Computer skills especially in managing project databases (DHIS2), and data management using statistical software like SPSS, Excel, and Epi Info, among others.

  • High-level expertise in Results-Based Management, Logical Framework Analysis, and Result-Based Performance Monitoring and Evaluation.

  • Proficiency in one or more local languages and English is required.

PREFERRED SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND FUNCTIONS

  • Good accountancy and report writing skills.

  • Commendable knowledge and skill on school health, particularly Life skill education, focusing on Adolescent and youth SRHR/MHM services, WaSH, school gardening and cluster resource centers/SS.

  • Good interpersonal communication and teamwork
