Job Description
The Education Coordinator will oversee and guide the educational development of children and youth in our 10 group homes. This role involves managing academic programs, ensuring alignment with educational standards, supporting individual learning needs, and fostering a culture of learning and growth. The ideal candidate will collaborate with tutors, mentors, schools, and group home staff to provide holistic educational support that empowers every child to reach their full potential.
Educational Program Management:
Design and implement educational plans tailored to the needs of each child.
Coordinate access to school placements, extracurricular programs, and vocational training.
Monitor academic progress and address challenges proactively.
Develop and implement policies for educational development within BBR.
Support for Children and Youth:
Assess individual academic strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles.
Identify resources to support specific educational needs, such as tutoring or special education services.
Advocate for children’s educational rights and access to quality learning opportunities.
Staff Coordination and Training:
Provide guidance and support to tutors, mentors, and group home staff on educational matters.
Train staff to identify and address academic and developmental challenges.
Coordinate schedules for tutoring sessions, workshops, and educational activities.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Liaise with schools, teachers, and educational institutions to ensure smooth communication and support for residents.
Work with external organizations to provide additional educational resources and opportunities.
Engage parents or guardians (where applicable) in the educational planning process.
Reporting and Documentation:
Maintain detailed records of each child’s academic progress, goals, and interventions.
Prepare reports on educational outcomes for management and stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with local and national educational regulations and standards.
Enrichment and Extracurricular Programs:
Organize and oversee workshops, career guidance sessions, and skill-building activities.
Promote participation in extracurricular activities like sports, arts, and community programs.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Educational Administration, Psychology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum of 3 years of experience in educational program management, teaching, or child development.
Experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly children and youth.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of child development and learning theories.
Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
Proficient in communication and interpersonal skills.
Problem-solving skills to address educational challenges effectively.
Ability to motivate and inspire children and staff toward learning goals.
Other Requirements:
Familiarity with local education systems and regulations.
Willingness to travel between group homes and local schools as needed.
Must pass a background check.
