Job Description

Ministry of Health would like to invite competent and interested applicants for the following position. 

The Store Head, reports to the Asset Management Team Leader under Basic Services EO, is responsible for the efficient and effective management of medical and other supply stores within the Ministry of Health. This position requires a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with strong leadership, inventory management, and logistical skills. The storehead will ensure the timely procurement, storage, distribution, and maintenance of medical supplies and other equipment, adhering to strict inventory control procedures and Ministry guidelines. 

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management: Oversee all aspects of inventory control, including receiving, storage, tracking, and distribution of medical supplies and equipment. Implement and maintain accurate inventory records. Conduct regular stock takes and reconcile discrepancies. Analyze inventory data to identify slow-moving items and suggest strategies for improved stock management.

Procurement & Supply Chain: Collaborate with procurement EO to ensure timely ordering and delivery of medical and related supplies. Monitor supply chain efficiency and identify opportunities for improvement. Maintain strong relationships with key vendors.

Warehouse Management: Manage the physical warehouse, ensuring proper storage conditions, safety procedures, and security protocols are followed. Oversee warehouse layout, organization, and staff. Implement and maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment.

Compliance & Regulations: Ensure strict adherence to all relevant Ministry policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements relating to inventory management, storage, and distribution of medical supplies. Maintain accurate documentation and audit trails. Stay updated on changes in regulations and adapt procedures accordingly.

Reporting & Analysis: Generate regular reports on inventory levels, stock movement, and other key performance indicators. Analyze data to identify trends and make informed decisions to optimize store operations. Prepare reports for management as required.

Logistics & Distribution: Manage the efficient and timely distribution of medical supplies to various health facilities, coordinating deliveries and transportation. Optimize delivery routes and schedules for maximum efficiency.

Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure the integrity and safety of medical supplies. Handle any damaged or expired goods according to established protocols. Ensure proper handling and storage of temperature-sensitive items.

Reports to: MoH, Basic Services EO

Employment Type and Duration: The contract will be for one year (12 months), with possibility of extension subject to performance and budget availability

Salary: 8474.00 ETB

Job Requirements

Educational Background

  • Minimum of a college diploma or Technical Vocational Level 3/ 10+3/ COC Assessment Certificate in Supply Management, Procurement፣ Business Management, Sales Management, Marketing Management, Logistics and Supply Management, Management, Purchasing Management, Logistics and Material Management; Logistics and Supply Management, Property Administration, Purchasing and Sales, Cooperative Business Management, Procurement and Marketing, or a related field.

Work Experience: 

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in a in store, supply management or material management or similar role, preferably within a healthcare setting or government agency.

  • Both the Civil service and MoH Human Resource Development rules and regulations will be applied to guide the day-to-day services of the postholder. 

  • *As new priories emerge, MoH/RHB may periodically revise the TOR for this position.
