Awach SACCOS Is a saving and credit cooperative established on March 22/2007 G.C. Having in mind a long-range objective of encouraging saving mobilization culture and loan provision in the community with a strong commitment and belongingness, coupled with shared visions of the founders; Awach became a truly serving financial institution within 17 (seventeen) successful and fruitful years after the establishment. JOB SUMMARY

 The Cybersecurity Officer is responsible for safeguarding the organization's information systems, networks, and data from cyber threats. This role involves developing and implementing security protocols, conducting risk assessments, monitoring for security breaches, and responding to incidents. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in cybersecurity, an in-depth understanding of emerging threats, and the ability to develop and enforce security policies.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy that protects the organization's digital assets and aligns with its business objectives.

• Monitor the organization's networks and systems for security breaches or incidents, and respond promptly to mitigate risks and contain threats.

• Conduct regular risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities in the organization's IT infrastructure and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.

• Create, review, and enforce cybersecurity policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the organization's compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices.

• Perform internal security audits and coordinate external audits to evaluate the effectiveness of security measures and identify areas for improvement. 

• Lead the response to cybersecurity incidents, including coordination with internal teams and external partners, investigation of the root cause, and implementation of corrective actions.

• Develop and deliver cybersecurity training programs to educate employees about security risks and best practices, fostering a culture of security awareness across the organization.

• Ensure the organization adheres to relevant legal and regulatory requirements, such as GDPR, or industry-specific standards like PCI-DSS. 

• Work closely with other departments, including IT, legal, and compliance, to ensure a cohesive approach to information security. 

• Oversee the deployment, management, and maintenance of security technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, encryption solutions, and antivirus software. 

• Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on the organization's cybersecurity posture, incidents, and recommendations for improvement.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field from a well-known University with CGPA >2.5. A Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH) is preferred 

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in cybersecurity, information security, or a related field, with a proven track record of managing security operations and responding to cyber incidents. Financial institutions experience more advantages. 

• In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies. 

• Experience with security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, or COBIT. 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.  Proficiency in security tools and software (e.g., SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection).

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
