Job purpose Summary:

This role focuses on fostering and maintaining strong relationships with various teams and organizations based in Bahir Dar, Amhara region, Ethiopia. The individual will closely collaborate with government authorities, officials, institutions, and partners. Key responsibilities include ensuring timely follow-up on applications with regional government bodies, representing the International Medical Corps (IMC) at regional cluster meetings, and tracking, communicating, and addressing any issues that arise. Under the guidance of the Field Site Coordinator based in Gonder, the individual will collaborate and cultivate relationships with key government institutions to facilitate smooth cooperation between IMC and external entities. Additionally, they will draft correspondence, reports, and other documents, and provide advice to supervisors on the outcomes of discussions with external stakeholders.

Additionally, the role includes leading the process for securing signatures on MoUs at the regional level, when required by relevant departments, such as grants, HR, logistics, and finance. Building relationships with technical managers, decision-makers, and local authorities are essential for promoting IMC’s work and enhancing its profile as well as visibility both internally and externally. The individual will also liaise with government institutions to secure necessary authorizations for effective program implementation and provide timely progress reports on assignments to internal team members.

Other related duties may be assigned as needed. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all liaising services with Governmental officials or Offices, implementing partners, UN Agencies, and other institutions/ bureau. 

  • Represents International Medical Corps in a positive way in all communications with implementing partners, UN Agencies, and/or Governmental offices.

  • Follows pharmaceutical, pharmaceutical supplies or consumables permit at Regional FMHACA

  • Accompanies travelers to and from the airport as needed and applicable

  • Drop and pick official letters to the concerned organization

  • Proactively facilitate and advocate on IMC’s behalf with government authorities/officials to ensure that the desired outcomes for IMC’s activities in Amhara region, Ethiopia are achieved. 

  • Ensure active follow-up on outstanding applications with various government ministries, collaborate closely and address any issues at that level. 

  • In consultation with the Field Site Coordinator, maintain IMC’s relationship with key government institutions, and build smooth work relationship between the organization and other parties. 

  • Draft correspondence, documents, reports, and ensures follow-up. 

  • Advise the supervisor on a continuing basis of relevant information on the outcome of discussions with external parties. 

  • Lead and keep track of the signature of MoUs at national level, when requested by the relevant departments (grants, HR, logistics, Finance) 

  • Build and maintain relationships with key technical managers and decision-makers in the government, different ministries and among local authorities.

  • Promote IMC’s work and raise IMC image internally & externally at all levels. 

  • Liaise with Government institutions, to secure all required authorizations and permissions to facilitate smooth implementation of IMC’s programming. 

  • Providing timely progress report on the development & progress of assignments given with internal team members 

  • Perform other related duties assigned by the supervisors.

Job Requirements

(Training/education/experience/physical demands required. 

  • BA Degree in Public Health, Communication, Sociology, Social Work or Similar field with 3+ years of relevant experience. INGO Experience is preferable

  • Professionalism, Honesty, Integrity

  • Proficiency of Microsoft Office including MS Word and Excel, as well as email communications and application of other basic computer programs

  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing in English

  • Committed to work out of office hours when necessary. - NGO experience is a plus. Knowledge of local language to the respective Woredas

      OTHER COMMENTS

  • Should be someone who can live very hard areas with limited access.

  • Ability to speak additional language.

  • Working knowledge of English (spoken and written)
