Job Description

This role holder is responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of crushing equipment at a construction site or quarry. Crushers are used to break down large rocks, stones, and other raw materials into smaller, usable sizes for construction, such as aggregates, sand, and gravel. The Crusher Manager ensures that the crushing process runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently, while also managing personnel, equipment, and resources.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Crusher Operations Management:

    • Oversee the daily operation of the crushing plant and equipment, ensuring all crushers, screens, and conveyors are functioning efficiently.

    • Plan and coordinate the production schedule to meet demand for various aggregate sizes needed for construction projects.

    • Monitor crusher performance, adjusting settings or processes to optimize efficiency and quality.

    • Ensure the correct type of materials (e.g., rocks, gravel, ores) are fed into the crusher to achieve the desired product specification.

  • Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

    • Supervise regular maintenance and servicing of crushing equipment to prevent breakdowns and reduce downtime.

    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to crusher performance, such as clogging, motor malfunctions, or operational inefficiencies.

    • Work with maintenance teams to schedule repairs and replacements of worn-out parts (e.g., crusher jaws, screens, hoppers).

    • Maintain detailed records of all maintenance work and inspections.

  • Safety Management:

    • Ensure that all crushing operations comply with health and safety regulations and best practices.

    • Implement and enforce safety protocols for operators, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), machine operation, and emergency procedures.

    • Conduct regular safety training and audits to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries on site.

    • Monitor air quality (dust suppression), noise levels, and other environmental factors to ensure compliance with safety standards.

  • Quality Control and Material Monitoring:

    • Ensure that the crushed materials meet the required specifications for size, shape, and gradation.

    • Perform quality control checks on the output of the crusher and work with quality assurance teams to ensure products meet project standards.

    • Adjust the crushing process to achieve the desired output, including modifications to equipment or processing techniques if necessary.

  • Resource Management:

    • Manage inventory levels of spare parts, tools, and consumables required for the operation and maintenance of the crusher.

    • Work with procurement teams to ensure timely ordering and delivery of necessary materials and parts.

    • Optimize the use of materials to ensure efficient production and reduce waste.

  • Team Leadership and Training:

    • Lead and supervise a team of crusher operators, machine attendants, and laborers.

    • Provide training on the proper operation of crushers, safety procedures, and maintenance protocols.

    • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to ensure the team’s development and high operational standards.

  • Environmental Compliance:

    • Ensure that all crushing activities adhere to environmental regulations, particularly regarding dust control, water usage, and noise reduction.

    • Implement measures such as water spraying, dust suppression systems, and acoustic barriers to minimize environmental impact.

    • Monitor environmental factors and report to regulatory bodies when required.

  • Budgeting and Cost Control:

    • Assist in preparing and managing budgets for crusher operations, including labor, maintenance, fuel, and parts.

    • Monitor operating costs to ensure that crusher operations are cost-effective and remain within budget.

    • Identify opportunities for reducing costs and improving efficiency, such as optimizing equipment usage or reducing downtime.

  • Reporting and Documentation:

    • Prepare regular reports on crusher performance, production rates, maintenance activities, and safety incidents.

    • Maintain accurate records of all operations, maintenance schedules, safety inspections, and production outputs.

    • Report to senior management or the site manager on operational progress and any issues that arise.

Job Requirements
