POSITION TITLE:                       District Program Officers (4)

DUTY STATION:                          Afar

MINIMUM HOURS OF WORK:    40 Hours per Week

 JOB SUMMARY

The district program officers (DPO) will be the district focal point for the “Integrating Health into the PSNP” project and work closely with the District Health, Agricultural and Women and Social Affairs offices, and other related project-implementing partners in the targeted districts. The DPO will also lead the community demand creation and provide capacity building for the catchment health facilities to ensure the RMNCH services are provided based on the national standards. S/he will also be responsible to coordinate the day-to-day documentation of RMNCH services provided and compile weekly and monthly reports and share to her/his supervisor. She/he will also develop and maintain close working relationship with Government officials responsible for implementation of PSNP and services including identification of inaccessible sites, planning and implementation of context specific interventions to reach target groups.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to the district agricultural and health offices, health facility staff including mapping, determine targets for each catchment area of supported health facilities, analyzing data and generating reports,

  • Organize training and awareness activities and make sure they are conducted according to the national standard,

  • Plan and manage trainings, workshops, community wide events and experience sharing visits in project related issues at district and site level,

  • Ensure functional referral and feedback mechanism are in place among health facilities in the intervention areas,

  • Lead district level monthly multisectoral coordination meetings (agricultural, health and women, and social affairs and other implementing partners) to discuss challenges and follow workable recommendations,

  • Ensure PSNP target groups are linked with RMNCH services,

  • Follow up defaulters and keep current record of both beneficiaries and facilitate defaulter tracing activities,

  • Ensure heath facilities have adequate supplies and equipment to provide essential health services for target beneficiaries,

  • Keep communication with community leaders and beneficiaries to get their feedback on health service delivery,

  • Closely work with health facilities and district health office, review monthly performance data, compile, and share with the M&E officer,

  • Document daily activity report and prepare monthly progress report and share with her/his immediate supervisor,

  • Document lessons learned and good practices and share with her/his supervisor,

  • Undertake other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

  • BSc degree in public health or equivalent with minimum of 5 years of experience, including prior experience with RMNCH services and PSNP program.

  • Previous three or more years of experience in similar positions

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written and spoken English.

  • Ability to communicate with the local language.

  • Proven ability to provide technical assistance to health care providers on RMNCH activities.

  • Familiarized with FMoH RMNCH standards, procedures, and policies.

  • Ability to work in the respective targeted districts or clusters.
